Foot fracture to sideline Canucks' Fitzpatrick

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Vancouver Canucks defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick will miss the next four to six weeks because of a hairline fracture in his left foot.

Sami Salo (knee sprain) and Willie Mitchell (post-concussion symptoms) are also sidelined, leaving Vancouver with a young, inexperienced defense for its game Thursday night against Anaheim.

Nathan McIver, 21, was recalled from AHL Manitoba and will join Patrick Coloumbe, another 21-year-old who was called up Wednesday, in playing his first NHL game. Alexander Edler, 20, will be playing his third.
