Maple Leafs re-sign Steen to two-year, $3.4 million extension

TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Alexander Steen
to a $3.4-million, two-year contract extension.

Steen, who turns 24 next week, had 10 goals and 16 assists
entering Saturday night's game against Atlanta. He was Toronto's
first choice, 24th overall, in the 2002 entry draft.

He will earn $1.7 million in each of the 2008-09 and 2009-10
seasons after coming out of his entry-level contract.
