Goalie Michal Neuvirth day to day

Washington Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth will not be available for Thursday's game against the New York Islanders after leaving Tuesday night's game with a lower-body injury.

He is listed as day to day.

The Capitals on Wednesday called up goaltender Braden Holtby from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Neuvirth left after the first period of the Capitals' 3-2 overtime loss Tuesday against the Flyers in Philadelphia.

Holtby, 21, made his NHL debut Nov. 5 in a 5-3 win against the Bruins. He has played five games this season, with a 2-2-1 record, 3.84 goals-against average and .845 save percentage.

He is 10-5-2 in 18 games with the Bears.
