Oilers rookie star Taylor Hall injured his left ankle when he landed awkwardly in his first NHL fight on Thursday night.
The first overall pick in the June draft completed a "Gordie Howe hat trick" when he traded punches with Derek Dorsett in the second period. Hall limped off the ice after the fight and did not return to the game.
He had a goal in the first period and an assist in the second. The Oilers beat the Blue Jackets 4-2 for their sixth win in their past nine games.
The Oilers are already without right wing Ales Hemsky, who is expected to miss three weeks after injuring his shoulder Tuesday night.
Hall has 22 goals and 20 assists in 65 games.
