Hal Gill sitting out Game 2

NASHVILLE -- Predators defenseman Hal Gill said he's not ready to play in Game 2 of Nashville's first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings.

Gill skated briefly during Friday's practice. He has been out with a lower-body injury and hasn't played since April 5 against the Dallas Stars.

"I'm going to give it some more time. I don't think at this point I can help the team," Gill said. "We have some good players that can play."

Defenseman Jack Hillen replaced Gill in Nashville's 3-2 win in Game 1. He played 8 minutes, 20 seconds and finished with a plus-minus rating of plus-1 for the game.

Predators coach Barry Trotz said he will dress seven defensemen for warmups Friday night and choose between Hillen and Ryan Ellis, who could provide a lift to a Nashville power play that was held scoreless in the series opener.
