Caps' Alex Ovechkin out again

NEWARK, N.J. -- Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals missed his second straight game with what the team called a lower-body injury.

The Capitals scratched the NHL's leading goal scorer for Friday night's game against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center, a 2-1 loss. The Russian star, who has 35 goals, also missed Tuesday's game against Ottawa after being injured Sunday in a loss to the New York Rangers.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Ovechkin is suffering from a strained groin.

The Capitals saw their losing streak extended to seven games after Friday night's loss. They have scored eight goals in the slide, three by Ovechkin.
