Bruins, Canadiens to auction jerseys for Denna Laing

MONTREAL -- The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens will auction off autographed, game-worn jerseys from Tuesday night's game to raise money for Denna Laing, the women's hockey player who was paralyzed at the Winter Classic.

Before the game Tuesday, Laing's picture was shown on the JumboTron.

Laing, 24, crashed into the boards at Gillette Stadium in an exhibition the day before the NHL's showcase game on New Year's Day. Laing's family said she has limited feeling in her arms and none in her legs.

On Wednesday, Laing took to Twitter to say thank you for a hospital visit from Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

Laing played at Princeton and for the Boston Pride of the National Women's Hockey League. She works as a witness victim advocate at the Essex district attorney's office.

Earlier, the Bruins announced they would donate at least $200,000 to help Laing's recovery.
