Kevin Porter faces disciplinary hearing

Colorado Avalanche winger Kevin Porter will have a phone hearing Thursday with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan to discuss his Tuesday knee-on-knee hit on Vancouver's David Booth.

Booth is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain in his right knee.

After the hit, Booth remained on the ice throughout a television timeout and did not put any weight on his right leg as Kevin Bieksa and Henrik Sedin helped him off the ice. Booth then hopped to the locker room on his left leg.

Porter was given a five-minute major penalty for kneeing and a game misconduct.
