Carolina activates Jeff Skinner from IR

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes activated NHL rookie of the year Jeff Skinner from injured reserve after he sat out 16 games with a concussion.

Skinner was held without a point in 17:23 of ice time in a 2-1 loss at Washington on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Skinner was hurt Dec. 7 at Edmonton. At the time of the injury, he led the team with 12 goals and 24 points.
