Scotty Bowman nets Order of Canada

Hall of Fame coach Scotty Bowman received the Governor General's highest honor on Friday, as he was admitted to the Order of Canada.

"It's certainly different from my Stanley Cup rings, and I look forward to wearing it on special occasions," Bowman said after a ceremony in which he received a red-and-white medallion from Governor General David Johnston.

Bowman, 78, is the NHL's all-time leader with 1,248 wins, and he also won nine Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings over four decades.

The Order of Canada is the second-highest honor a Canadian can receive, after the Queen's Order of Merit.
