Prudential Center is a world-class sports and entertainment venue in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Opened in October 2007, the state-of-the-art arena is home to the Devils, Seton Hall University's NCAA Division I men's basketball program, and more than 175 concerts, family shows and special events each year. Ranked in the top 10 nationally by Pollstar, Billboard and Venues Today, Prudential Center welcomes 1.75 million guests annually. Also known as "The Rock," Prudential Center continues to play a significant role in the revitalization of downtown Newark and the growth of hockey throughout New Jersey. Prudential Center is the home of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association high school ice hockey championships each year and honors all New Jersey high school hockey teams with a jersey from each school displayed on the main concourse. The arena regularly hosts community events with charity, government and business partners from around the state. Prudential Center is one of two arenas in the NHL that features an adjacent practice facility, The Barnabas Health Hockey House, which hosts more than 250,000 people annually for youth, high school, college and adult practices and clinics. The Barnabas Health Hockey House is also home to the NWHL's New York Riveters. Prudential Center features a true New Jersey culinary experience with concessions partner Legends, highlighted by a Jersey diner, a Jersey Shore boardwalk and a taste of Newark's Ironbound neighborhood. Outside, two sculptures mark meeting spots for hockey fans, graduation participants and concert goers alike. A 30-foot replica of a hockey player sits on Championship Plaza just outside of the building's main entrance, Investors Bank Tower. At the other tower entrance, a bronze statue of Devils goaltending legend Martin Brodeur was placed and dedicated in October 2016. Brodeur's No. 30 is one of four retired Devils numbers, joined by Ken Daneyko (No. 3), Scott Stevens (No. 4) and Scott Niedermayer (No. 27), that hang from the Prudential Center rafters.
