BURGOS, Spain -- Mark Cavendish of Britain won a massive sprint finish for his second straight Spanish Vuelta stage victory on Friday, and Igor Anton of Spain kept the overall lead.
Cavendish won the 121-mile, 13th leg in 4 hours, 50 minutes, 18 seconds. Thor Hushovd of Norway and Daniele Bennati of Italy crossed next in the same time.
Euskaltel Euskadi cyclist Anton maintained his 45-second advantage over Vincenzo Nibali of Italy in the Spanish classic. His overall time is 56:28:03.
Cavendish paid tribute to his HTC-Columbia teammates.
"They're young, but they're really dedicated and concentrated," he said. "I'm really proud of the work they're doing here, and I can't thank them enough."
The 111-mile, 14th stage Saturday is from Burgos to Pena Cabarga and includes three mountain climbs.
