U.S. still unbeaten at volleyball worlds

MATSUMOTO, Japan -- The United States overpowered Kazakhstan to remain undefeated at the women's volleyball world championships on Tuesday.

The Americans won 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 behind 15 points from Destinee Hooker and 13 from Logan Tom in Group C play.

Defending champion Russia stayed undefeated with a 25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 25-22 win over South Korea.

Olympic champion Brazil also improved to 4-0 in Group D with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 win over Puerto Rico.

The Czech Republic rallied to defeat European champion Italy in five games. Italy dropped to 3-1 while the Czech Republic improved to 2-2 in Group D.
