Despite difficulties, Bode added to U.S. slalom team

MUNICH, Germany -- Bode Miller has secured a slalom spot on
the U.S. team at the world championships in Sweden.

"Bode will start in the slalom," U.S. head coach Phil McNichol
told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Miller only needs a slalom title to become the only man to win
world championship gold medals in all five disciplines.

Miller's last chance to qualify for a berth in the slalom worlds
at Are, Sweden, came Tuesday at a World Cup event. He was 25th, but
Miller hadn't even completed a World Cup slalom since finishing
18th in Kitzbuehel on Jan. 22, 2006.
