WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Chris Del Bosco led a Canadian sweep of the medals in the Freestyle World Cup skicross event on the mountain where the sport will make its Olympic debut in a year.
Stanley Hayer and Davey Barr followed the Colorado-born Del Bosco, who has dual citizenship.
"This was an awesome day for the Canadians," Del Bosco said. "We wanted to do well here. We've been planning on it all offseason and we kind of wanted to show everyone what we're made of."
Canadians took the top two spots in the women's event, too. Aleisha Cline beat Ashleigh McIvor, and Austrian Karin Huttart finished third.
In skicross, participants qualify by racing alone against the clock down the steep, twisting, heavily banked course. Then the top 32 are put in groups of four, eliminating two skiers until the final four race for the medals.
In aerials, Steve Omischl of Canada beat Anton Kushnir of Belarus and Stanislav Kravchuk of Ukraine.
Evelyne Leu of Switzerland was the top women's aerialist, finishing ahead of Chinese skiers Shuangfei Dai and Shuang Cheng.
Omischl maintained his lead atop the World Cup standings with 337 points while Leu's win put her in seventh place in World Cup rankings with 208 points.
