Patrick Riml to serve as director

PARK CITY, Utah -- The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association has brought back former women's head coach Patrick Riml to serve as the Alpine program director.

The organization announced Friday that Riml, who spent the last three seasons with Canada's program, will oversee everything from the grass-roots development to the U.S. national team.

The Soelden, Austria, native joined the U.S. squad in 2001 as the Europa Cup head coach before taking over as the women's head coach in 2003.

Riml helped lead Julia Mancuso to a gold medal in the giant slalom at the 2006 Torino Olympics and was part of Lindsey Vonn's big year in 2008 when she claimed the first of her three straight World Cup overall titles.
