SYDNEY, Australia -- Matt Jaukovic of Australia broke the 50-meter butterfly short-course world record at a World Cup meet Saturday.

Jaukovic, formerly of Montenegro, finished in 22.50 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 22.60 set by Brazilian Kaio Almeida in December 2005.

In other races, Olympic 1,500-meter champion Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia won three events -- the 400 freestyle and individual medleys of 100 and 400 meters. Katheryn Meakum of South Africa picked up two wins, in the 200 individual medley and 800 freestyle.

World record holder Stefan Nystrom of Sweden won the 100 freestyle in 47.45 seconds, nearly 2 seconds slower than his world mark.
