MANCHESTER, England -- American sprinter Tyson Gay will run a 150-meter race in Manchester on May 15 as part of his preparations for the world championships in August.
The 28-year-old Gay will run the distance at the annual street race in which Usain Bolt set a world record of 14.35 seconds in 2009. The American is expected to compete in the 100 and 200 at the worlds in Daegu, South Korea.
Gay was unbeaten over 100 meters last year and handed Bolt his first sprint defeat in two years over the distance in Stockholm.
Gay says "my primary goal is to just get my first competition of the year in the books."
Gay ran a straight-track 200 in 19.41 a year ago, covering the first 150 in 14.41.
