As the U.S. women's national hockey team boycott of next week's IIHF world championships extended to a ninth day, CNN Money posted more details today on USA Hockey's inequitable treatment of its men's and women's national teams. Quoting from player handbooks for 2013 and 2014, an Olympic year, CNN listed these examples: USA Hockey paid for the men's national team to fly business class and receive disability insurance; the women did not; USA Hockey also paid the transportation costs for each male player to bring a guest who was permitted to stay for the duration of the championships in the players' hotel room, and received breakfast, game tickets and an apparel package. Women players had to room together and were not permitted to bring guests.
Previously the players had shown USA Hockey also spends $4.9 million on its boys developmental program and league and virtually nothing on the girls teams,
