MALMO, Sweden -- Nic Petan broke a tie on a power play with 2:46 left in Canada's 5-3 comeback victory over Slovakia on Monday in the world junior hockey tournament.
Canada (2-0-1) wrapped up a spot in the playoff round entering its Group A finale Tuesday against the defending champion United States (3-0-0).
Jonathan Drouin tied it for Canada with 5:58 left, and Petan completed the scoring with an empty-net goal. Slovakia dropped to 1-2-0.
In Group B, Finland beat Russia 4-1, leaving both teams 2-1-0. Saku Maenalanen, Rasmus Kulmala, Henrik Haapala and Joni Nikko scored for Finland.
On Tuesday, Sweden (3-0-0) will face Russia, and Finland will play Switzerland. If Russia and Finland win in regulation to tie Sweden, the positions in the playoff round will be decided by goal differential in the games among the three teams.
