LONDON -- Add Jeremy Wariner to the growing list of injured American relay runners. The 2004 Olympic champion at 400 meters tore his left hamstring and will miss the final of the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday.
Wariner will join 2008 Olympic champion LaShawn Merritt and Manteo Mitchell on the sideline. Merritt hurt his groin in 400-meter individual qualifying, and Mitchell broke his left leg halfway through the first lap of Friday's relay preliminaries, but finished the lap to ensure the U.S. would make the final.
The U.S. men have won the last eight 4X400-meter relays they've entered at the Olympics.
The U.S. team will probably look to a 400-meter hurdler or short-distance sprinter to join Joshua Mance, Tony McQuay and Bryshon Nellum in the final.
