National Aquatics Center

Situated at the heart of the Olympic Green the Water Cube can host 17,000 spectators with 11,000 of those seats due to be removed after the Games.

The Water Cube is an outright landmark, a work of sublime architectural beauty which has become one of the centerpieces of Chinese pride amongst a string of new constructions. Viewed from the exterior at night one is presented with a luminous blue oblong structure seemingly built of bubble bricks, which are actually air cushions.

Swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water-polo (final).

Event dates

August 9-23, water-polo final August 24.
