Winless Americans lose to China

SAPPORO, Japan -- The U.S. women's national volleyball team lost to China 25-20, 25-23, 25-17 Friday at the FIVB World Grand Prix, ending its three-year run as champion.

The U.S. fell to 0-3 in the six-team round robin tournament. China is 3-0.

Kelly Murphy led the Americans with 11 points and captain Kristin Hildebrand added 10 points and a team-high three blocks.

Team USA faces Italy in the loser's bracket on Saturday.
