We had such a great time with Pete Maina catching Muskie in Green Bay last year Zona absolutely had to do another show with the Mangenius. (I'm pretty sure Zona made that word up)
Truthfully, I'm convinced that Zona is now addicted to catching muskie after Pete helped him conquer his fear of the water wolf.
On a side note I know the smart people of the world like to call this fish by its fancy name, muskellunge over even more pretentious, Esox masquinongy. That's fine, but why makes things complicated for the simple people? Is the short version spelled Musky or Muskie? I don't know, but I'm not a professional writer so forgive me if I get it wrong. I use the "ie" because I feel it gives the word some flair.
Ok now that I got that off my chest. It quickly became apparent last year that Pete and Z had similar tastes in music after Maina threw in a CD from The Brian Schram Band, one of his fishing buddies. If you recall, Zona's air drum performance speaks for itself.
Well as fate would have it, Schram's hometown of Detroit has a pretty darn good muskie fishery in Lake St Clair. That was all we needed to put a show together with Zona, Pete and Brian Schram the "motor city muskie man".
Naturally this shoot had a rock 'n roll vibe It's not often that you get to fish with a true rocker while on a boat captained by a guy who looks like the lead singer from Whitesnake. Zona looked like the odd man out! But Z was in heaven, he had the world's greatest muskie expert taking him fishing and a professional singer giving him vocal pointers.
To find out how Zona fared against the muskie, you're going to have to watch the show. If you want to get a taste of Zona's newest musical effort check out the Schram remix of Zona's original song Baby Cub. (Click here to listen to it)
