RICHMOND, Va. -- Brian Vickers will join Michael Waltrip Racing co-owner Rob Kauffman and Rui Aguas to compete in the 80th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16.
He also will drive in the FIA World Endurance Championship race at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium on May 5.
Vickers will replace MWR co-owner Michael Waltrip in both events. Waltrip's duties as a television analyst will prevent him from driving.
"Le Mans will be one of the highlights of my career,'' said Vickers, who will drive the MWR No. 55 car in eight Sprint Cup events this year. "This is an opportunity I never thought I would have.''
