WELCOME, N.C. -- Quicken Loans will follow Ryan Newman to Richard Childress Racing as primary sponsor for 12 races next season.
Quicken Loans currently sponsors Newman for 18 races at Stewart-Haas Racing.
The online home lender will be an associate sponsor on Newman's car at RCR when it is not adorning the hood. Quicken Loans is also the title sponsor of Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway, and an associate sponsor of Team Penske IndyCar drivers Helio Castroneves and Will Power.
Quicken first partnered with Newman at SHR in 2012.
"Ryan has shown that he is not only an incredible race car driver, but also someone with great integrity and class," said Jay Farner, President and chief marketing officer of Quicken Loans. "The way Ryan has handled some very tough situations this year, while also continuing to ignore the noise and perform at a high-level, made our decision to stick with him a no-brainer. He embodies what we stand for each and every day."
When told he was being let go from SHR, he won the Brickyard 400 a few weeks later.
Newman also handled himself well after he was leading in the closing laps at Richmond in a race he needed to win to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. He lost the race when Clint Bowyer spun to bring out a caution, and it was later found out that the spin was a deliberate attempt to help Bowyer teammate Martin Truex Jr. make the Chase over Newman.
NASCAR later replaced Truex in the Chase with Newman.
"My relationship with Quicken Loans goes beyond driving their car," Newman said. "I've gotten to know them and their business, becoming friends with them in the process. As they know, I will do my very best to perform on and off the track next year and well beyond."
