CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR on Tuesday reinstated Aaron Fike after the former Truck Series driver completed his substance abuse recovery program.
Fike was suspended in July 2007 after he was arrested while injecting himself with heroin in an amusement park parking lot. He was allowed to avoid jail time by going to schools and race tracks to deliver an anti-drug message while undergoing NASCAR's Road to Recovery program.
Fike was eighth in the Truck Series points standings and in the running for the rookie of the year honor when he was arrested with his fiancee in the Kings Island parking lot outside of Cincinnati on July 7, 2007. He was suspended four days later.
