Gresini to race as tribute to Simoncelli

MILAN -- Gresini Racing will compete in the season-ending races in Spain this weekend as a tribute to the late Marco Simoncelli.

Simoncelli died in a crash at the Malaysian Grand Prix on Oct. 24.

Gresini Racing leader Fausto Gresini said Monday the team "wanted to do what Marco would have wished," and that is "the most important display of love that we can give Marco."

Hiroshi Aoyama will ride in the MotoGP and Michele Pirro and Yuki Takahashi will race in Moto2 at the Valencia GP.

Gresini says they will "give their all to honor Marco in the best way."
