RB Marrero to Stanford; TE Irizarry to OSU

In a major recruiting blow for Notre Dame, Top 150 running back David Marrero of Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas, Fla., has decommitted from the Irish to Stanford. ND Head Coach Tyrone Willingham, who left the Cardinal for South Bend last year, recently gained commitments from Top 150 offensive lineman John Sullivan of Greenwich, Conn., over Boston College; and defensive lineman/linebacker Dwight Stephenson Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., who decommitted from Florida.

Top 150 tight end Louis Irizarry of Youngstown-Ursuline, Ohio, has repledged to Ohio State after decommitting from Miami-Florida. The Buckeyes recently gained Super Prospect defensive lineman Sian Cotton of Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary, Ohio, over Florida, Pittsburgh and Clemson, among many others.

Super Prospect defensive lineman Richard Kittrell of Hamden-Hyde, Conn., has chosen the Iowa Hawkeyes over Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina and UConn. The Hawks recently gained Super Prospect running back Albert Young of Moorestown, NJ., who decommitted from Wisconsin; and Super Prospect quarterback Drew Tate of Baytown-Lee, Tex., who decommitted from Texas A&M.

Chris Patrick, a Super Prospect defensive lineman from Ithaca, Mich., pledged to Nebraska after decommitting from Purdue. He had earlier decommitted from Wisconsin. The Huskers recently added defensive backs Donald Defrand of Fort Lauderdale, Fla/Dodge City CC, Kan., and Titus Brothers of Converse-Judson, Tex., tight end J.B. Phillips of Colleyville-Heritage, Tex., over Kansas State and Oklahoma State; and Super Prospect linebacker Lance Broadus of Woodland Hills-Taft, Cal., over Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon and San Diego State.

South Carolina has recommitments from Super Prospect receiver Noah Whiteside of Greenville, SC., who also considered Clemson, Maryland and Pittsburgh; and touted defensive lineman Charles Silas of Swainsboro, Ga/Georgia Military Academy, Ga., who decommitted from Arkansas.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers was Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, USC, Georgia, Michigan, Miami-Florida, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Florida head the Early Top Classes (Updated daily).

Big Ten:
Two Super Prospect defensive lineman have decommitted from Purdue: Chris Patrick of Ithaca, Mich., switched to Nebraska, while Ray Edwards of Cincinnati-Woodward, Ohio, is still considering the Boilermakers, Tennessee and South Carolina. Purdue recently gained receiver/tight end Kyle Ingraham, a 6-9 prospect from San Antonio-Clark, Tex; and defensive lineman Jamaal Jones of Oradell-Bergen Catholic NJ.

Minnesota pledged defensive back Stephen Rhea of Klein-Forest, Tex., and offensive lineman John Jakel of Schofield-D.C. Everest, Wis. The Gophers recently added receiver Adam Galbreath of Spring-Westfield, Tex., over interest from Kansas, SMU, Houston and TCU.

Big 12:
Offensive lineman Anthony Walker of Oklahoma City-Northeast, Okla., committed to Iowa State. The Cyclones recently gained tight end/linebacker Brandon Tinlin of San Diego-Mission Bay, Cal; linebacker Nick Moore of Arlington, Tex., who decommitted from Georgia Tech; and defensive back Dominique Flower of St. Petersburg-Northeast, Fla.

Defensive back Markeith Childress of Long Beach CC, Cal., is headed to Kansas. The Jayhawks recently gained receiver Ricky Stokes of Georgia Military Academy, Ga., and defensive lineman Chuck Jones of Long Beach-Poly, Cal/Pasadena CC, Cal.

Big East:
Miami-Florida pledged defensive lineman Clifton Dickson of Miami-Northwestern, Fla., over Florida and Maryland. Top 150 tight end Louis Irizarry of Youngstown-Ursuline, Ohio, has repledged to Ohio State after decommitting from the Canes.

Running back Andre Callender of West Orange-Seton Hall Prep, NJ., and offensive lineman Tom Anevski of Cincinnati-Elder, Ohio, chose Boston College. The Eagles recently gained running back/linebacker Lennox Whitworth of Milton-Catholic Memorial, Mass., over Vanderbilt; offensive lineman Kevin Sheridan of Cleveland-St. Ignatius, Ohio; defensive back James Silva of East Providence, RI., and Dorien Bryant, a Top 150 receiver/defensive back from Swedesboro-Kingsway Regional NJ.

Defensive lineman Patrick Powell of Chesterfield-Bird, Va., has chosen Maryland over offers from Ohio, East Carolina, Akron and North Carolina. The Terps recently gained defensive lineman Dre Moore of Charlotte-Independence, NC; Top 150 linebacker Wesley Jefferson of Brandywine-Gwynn Park, Md; and defensive lineman Omar Savage of Piscataway, NJ., over Rutgers and Duke.

Georgia Tech pledged linebacker Kyle Pupello of Tampa-Plant, Fla., and defensive lineman Joe Anoai of Pensacola-Escambia, Fla. The Yellow Jackets recently gained linebacker/defensive back KaMichael Hall of Houston-Klein Forest, Tex., over North Carolina and Northwestern.

Alabama gained defensive back/running back Tyrone Prothro of Heflin-Cleburne County, Ala. The Tide recently added linebacker Demarcus Waldrop of Pinson-Pinson Valley, Ala.

Defensive lineman Charles Silas of Swainsboro, Ga/Georgia Military Academy, Ga., decommitted from Arkansas and repledged to South Carolina. The Razorbacks recently gained defensive lineman Titus Peebles of Swainsboro, Ga/Georgia Military Academy, Ga; defensive back Kevin Woods of Memphis-Fairley, Tenn., and defensive lineman Zarnell Fitch of Oklahoma City-Spencer, Okla/Navarro CC, Tex.

Vanderbilt pledged offensive lineman Chris Williams of Baton Rouge-Catholic, La., over Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, Illinois and Southern Mississippi. The Commodores recently gained receiver George Smith of Hollywood-Hollywood Hills, Fla.

Memphis pledged linebacker Mike Snyder of Rivr Ridge-John Curtis, La; running back Tasmin Knockum of Baton Rouge-Catholic, La., and offensive lineman Lane Garcia of Baton Rouge-Catholic, La.

Twin defensive backs Thomas and Eddie Miller of Palm Bay, Fla., picked Louisville. The Cards recently gained running back/defensive back Kolby Smith of Tallahassee-Rickards, Fla; and defensive lineman Amobi Okoye of Huntsville-Lee, Ala.

Running back/linebacker John Taylor of Chesterfield-Bird, Va., has chosen Ohio over Akron. He rushed for 1898 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior.

Sun Belt:
Middle Tennessee State pledged linebacker Sean Mosley of Sylvania-Screven County, Ga.

Louisiana Tech pledged linebacker Brannon Jackson of Lake Charles/Washington-Marion, La., over Arkansas, LSU and Tulane.

Fresno State added defensive back Clifton Smith of Fresno-Edison, Cal.

Defensive back/receiver Mark Onibokun of Tacoma, Wash/Butte CC, Cal., chose Boise State. The Broncos recently added offensive/defensive lineman Dan Gore of Prosser, Wash.

Mountain West:
BYU gained defensive back Aaron Attig of Overton-Moapa, Nev.

Utah has verbals from defensive lineman Alex Puccinelli of Sherman Oaks-Notre Dame, Cal; offensive lineman David Dirkmaat of San Jose, Cal/Fresno CC, Cal; linebacker Bryce Scanlon of Evanston, Wyo; and receiver Quincy Lever of Tustin-Foothill, Cal.

UNLV has a verbal from tight end Ryan Welter of El Cajon-Granite Hills, Cal., over Colorado State.

The Arizona Wildcats edged rival Arizona State for defensive lineman Lionel Dotson of Pasadena-Dobie, Tex. The Wildcats recently pledged defensive lineman Jason Parker of San Diego-Mission Bay, Cal; defensive lineman Cliff Stanford of Los Angeles-Jefferson, Cal; tight end Tommy Briggs of Fresno CC, Cal; and defensive back Ryan Patterson of Desert Vista, Ariz/Pima CC, Ariz., over Michigan.

Linebacker Marcus Miller of Cerritos CC, Cal., committed to Oregon over interest from Kansas State, LSU, Marshall and North Carolina. Also headed for the Ducks is receiver Marcus Maxwell of Diabolo Valley CC, Cal. Defensive lineman Ray Tago of Long Beach CC, Cal., decommitted from the Ducks.

Oregon State has a verbal from defensive back Gerard Lawson of Las Vegas-Palo Verde, Nev. The Beavers recently added offensive lineman Patick Wu of Plano, Tex.
