Texas A&M, NC State snare top pledges

One of the nation's top offensive linemen, Jorrie Adams of Jasper, Tex., has pledged to Texas A&M. Long-rumored to be headed for the Aggies, he also considered Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Miami-Florida, Oklahoma and Penn State, among many others.

Top 150 linebacker Earl Everett of Bushnell-South Sumter, Fla., and defensive lineman Julian Riley of St. Petersburg-Lakewood, Fla., pledged to the Florida Gators. Everett also considered Florida State, LSU, Miami-Florida and Nebraska. Riley was being recruited by Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Boston College and Purdue. The Gators recently gained offensive lineman Carlton Medder of Groveland-South Lakes, Fla., who decommitted from Georgia; and defensive lineman Johnny Dingle of Miami-Washington, Fla., over Auburn, LSU, South Florida and West Virginia.

Top 150 receiver Jimmy Sutton of Boca Raton, Fla., who decommitted from Texas; and Super Prospect running back Brian Dennison of Jacksonville-Mandarin, Fla., over Iowa, Notre Dame, Mississippi and Mississippi State; have pledged to North Carolina State. The Wolfpack also gained defensive back Phillip Holloman of Norfolk-Lake Taylor, Va; and linebacker Guerlin Dervil of Jacksonville-White, Fla.

Michael Turner, a Super Prospect running back from Fort Worth-Dunbar, Tex., is headed to Wisconsin over New Mexico and Ball State. He had interest from Purdue, Texas A&M, Iowa and Missouri. The Badgers also have a verbal from defensive back/receiver James Kamoku of Kailua-Kona/Kealakehe, Hawaii.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers was Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, USC, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami-Florida and South Carolina head the Early Top Classes (Updated daily).

Big Ten:
Michigan State pledged receiver Terry Love of Maywood-Proviso East, Ill., who decommitted from Wisconsin; running back Kris Bush of River Ridge-John Curtis, La; receiver Irving Campbell of Lantana-Santaluces, Fla; and defensive back/running back Cole Corey of Tecumseh, Mich.

Big 12:
Baylor pledged defensive backs Joshua Bell and Nick Fellows, both from Dallas-Skyline, Tex. The Bears recently added tight end Michael Miller of Lake Charles-Barbe, La.

Kansas State has commitments from defensive back Byron Garvin of Miami-Pace, Fla., and linebacker Ben Henderson of Chicago-Hubbard, Ill/Joliet CC, Ill.

Kansas pledged defensive back Shelton Simmons of Georgia Military Academy, Ga; receiver/defensive back Tony King of Florissant-McCluer North, Mo; and defensive lineman Andy Temple of Ballwin-Parkway West, Mo.

Big East:
West Virginia has a pledge from defensive back Fernandez McDowell of Metairie-East Jefferson, La., who decommitted from the Indiana Hoosiers.

Offensive/defensive lineman Andraus Grace of Fort Meade, Fla., picked Florida State after decommitting from Alabama.

Defensive back LaBrose Hedgemon of Hoover, Ala., is no longer committed to North Carolina. He is considering Notre Dame and Colorado.

Defensive lineman Anthony McDaniel of Columbia-Keenan, SC., is no longer committed to Clemson and is looking at the Tigers, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Tigers recently gained receiver/defensive back Robert Reese of Temple, Ga., and tight end Zach Green of Conyers-Salem, Ga.

Vanderbilt pledged offensive lineman Tom Sorenson of Salt Lake City-Brighton, Utah; defensive back Darnell Martemus of Cleveland-St. Ignatius, Ohio; athlete Khalil Sutton of College Park-Woodward Academy, Ga; and defensive back Sean Dixon of Tampa-Chamberlain, Fla.

South Carolina has pledges from tight end Robert Pavlovic of Toronto-St. Xavier, Ontario; offensive lineman William Brown of Boonville-Starmount, NC., who decommitted from East Carolina; and defensive lineman Josh Johnson of Gibsonton-East Bay, Fla., over UConn, Iowa State, Michigan State and South Florida.

Defensive lineman Devrick Hampton of Greenville-Weston, Miss., is headed to Mississippi State. The Bulldogs recently added defensive back Adrian Griffin of LaGrange, Ga., over South Carolina, Arkansas, Maryland and North Carolina; running back Jason Jude of Athens, Ala., who decommitted from Auburn; and defensive back Ricky Wright of Batesville-South Panola, Miss.

East Carolina has a commitment from quarterback/receiver Kasey Ross of Gainesville, Fla.

Louisville has a commitment from defensive lineman William Gay of Tallahassee-Rickards, Fla. The Cards recently gained defensive lineman Josh Williams of Cedartown, Ga., and tight end Thomas Boyce of Dacula, Ga.

Central Florida pledged tight end Harvey Joiner of Austin-Crockett, Tex/Trinity Valley CC, Tex; and offensive lineman Brad Williams of Vidalia, Ga.

Sun Belt:
Defensive lineman Kwam Williams of Atlanta-Westlake, Ga., decommitted from Troy State and is headed to Middle Tennessee State.

Hawaii pledged defensive back/receiver Ray Bass of Corona-Centennial, Cal., over Arizona, California, Colorado State and Kansas; linebacker Daniel Tautofi of Honolulu-Kaimuki, Hawaii, and offensive lineman Larry Sauafea of American Somoa, who drew interest from Oregon and USC.

Boise State added quarterback Taylor Tharp of Boulder-Fairview, Colo., over Hawaii; and defensive back Duran Cooley of Los Angeles-Cathedral, Cal.

Mountain West:
Utah added quarterback/athlete Marcus Johnson of Los Angeles-Locke, Cal., over UNLV; and defensive lineman Tony Castaldi of Ventura-St. Bonaventure, Cal.

Arizona State has offensive lineman Brandon Rodd of Aiea, Hawaii. The Sun Devils recently resigned linebacker DeAndre Johnson of Phoenix-South Mountain, Ariz., who chose the Sun Devils in Class 2002, but did not qualify; and pledged offensive lineman Julius Orieukwu of Houston-Bellaire, Tex., over interest from Texas Tech, Arizona, TCU and Central Florida.

Washington State pledged defensive lineman Jon Conlin of Vancouver, BC., who decommitted from Kansas. The Cougars recently added athlete Jason Hill of San Francisco-Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep, Cal.
