Hokies, Badgers and Buckeyes nab prospects

Super Prospect running back Rodney Kinlaw of Goose Creek-Stratford, SC., chose Penn State over Virginia Tech and Clemson.

Vernon Davis, a Top 150 tight end from Washington, DC-Dunbar, has picked the Maryland Terps over Virginia and Florida.

Top 150 linebacker Vince Hall of Chesapeake-Western Branch, Va., has committed to Virginia Tech over North Carolina.

Top 150 defensive back Daryl Johnson and Super Prospect receiver Craig Davis, both from New Orleans-Perry Walker, La., have verballed to the LSU Tigers. Both had decommitted from Miami-Florida. The Tigers recently gained Top 150 defensive back LaRon Landry of Boutte-Hahnville, La., over Miami-Florida, Florida and Indiana.

Joe Thomas, a Top 150 offensive lineman from Brookfield-Central, Wis., has confirmed a commitment to the Wisconsin Badgers over Notre Dame. Among many others were Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Virginia Tech and Stanford.

Super Prospect defensive lineman/tight end Marcel Frost of Lyndhurst-Brush, Ohio, has picked the Ohio State Buckeyes after decommitting from Iowa. The Bucks recently gained Top 150 defensive back Ira Guilford of Hoboken, NJ., over Notre Dame.

Colorado has a pledge from Super Prospect defensive back Chris Russell of Nashville-Hillsboro, Tenn., who decommitted from Tennessee. The Buffs recently added linebacker/defensive lineman Alonzo Barrett of Alabaster-Thompson, Ala; and running back/defensive back Isaiah Crawford of Vista, Cal., over Nevada and Wyoming.

Texas A&M has Super Prospect receiver Earvin Taylor of Mission, Tex., over Georgia Tech, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.

Super Prospect defensive lineman Ray Edwards of Cincinnati-Woodward, Ohio, picked Tennessee. He recently decommitted from Purdue and also considered South Carolina.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers was Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

LSU, Southern California, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami-Florida and North Carolina State lead the Early Top Classes (Updated daily).

Super Prospect defensive back Brandon Owens of Delray Beach-Atlanta, Fla., chose Minnesota after decommitting from Iowa State.

Big 12:
Kansas State added running back John McCardle of Omaha-Millard North, Neb., over interest from Air Force, Utah and Wyoming. He rushed for 2355 yards and 31 touchdowns at quarterback.

Iowa State pledged tight end Ben Barkema of Muscatine, Iowa; and linebacker Jason Berryman of Houston-Kashere, Tex., over Arizona.

Big East:
West Virginia has linebacker James Alford of Metairie-East Jefferson, La., who decommitted from Colorado twice; receiver Jubal Thomas of Culver City, Cal/Los Angeles Harbor CC, Cal; and receiver/defensive back Milton Collins of New Orleans-Walker, La.

Boston College pledged athlete Tyronne Pruitt of Brockton, Mass., over interest from Syracuse, Michigan State and Vanderbilt.

Defensive back/receiver Sam Williams of Atlanta-Mays, Ga., is headed to Georgia Tech.

Defensive back Miguel Scott of Miami-Killian, Fla., chose North Carolina State over Florida, Rutgers and Georgia.

Auburn has a pledge from athlete Courtney Denson of Miami-Central, Fla., who had decommitted from Virginia Tech. Among others were Nebraska, Rutgers and South Florida.

Tight end Eric Butler of Moss Point, Miss., who decommitted from Southern Mississippi; defensive lineman Sandy Quinn of Jackson-Provine, Miss; and tight end/defensive lineman Steven Boozer of Pelahatchie-East Rankin Academy, Miss., committed to Mississippi State.

Memphis gained defensive back Javar Pollard of Batesville-South Panola, Miss. The Tigers recently added linebacker Quinton McCrary of Columbua, Miss.

East Carolina has a verbal from defensive lineman/linebacker Brandon Jones of Miami-Miami Lakes, Fla., over Maryland, North Carolina State, Rutgers and North Carolina.

Sun Belt:
Louisiana-Lafayette pledged defensive back Lamar Morgan of Copperas Cove, Tex., over TCU and Georgia Tech.

Fresno State has defensive back/athlete Damon Jenkins of Concord-De La Salle, Cal.

Hawaii pledged defensive back Viliami Nauahi of Kahuku, Hawaii, who decommitted from BYU. The Warriors recently added linebacker Chris Cole of Mission Viejo, Cal.

Stanford pledged linebacker Michael Okwo of Manhattan Beach-Mira Costa, Cal., over UCLA, USC, Oregon and Oregon State; and defensive back Nick Sanchez of Belle Glade-Glades Day, Fla.

Arizona State has linebacker Mark Washington of Long Beach-Poly, Cal., over Colorado, Oregon, USC and Washington. The Sun Devils recently added Super Prospect defensive back Chad Green of Van Nuys-Birmingham, Cal., over Oregon State, Washington, Oregon and LSU.
