National champions draw Hoosier freshman

Linebacker John Kerr of Cleveland-St. Ignatius, Ohio, who led Indiana in tackles as a true freshman last fall, is transfering to the defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. He will redshirt the 2003 season and have three years remaining.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have a commitment from Class 2004 tight end/defensive lineman Michael Sabers of Iowa City-City High, Ia., over an offer from Iowa State.

Clemson has a Class 2004 commitment from quarterback Cullen Harper of Alpharetta-Sequoyah, Ga., over offers from South Carolina and Duke. The Tigers recently gained offensive lineman Tony Willis of Highland Springs, Va., who drew interest from Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, North Carolina and Virginia.

Colorado State pledged Class 2004 offensive lineman Dane Stratton of Cheyenne-East, Wyo., over an offer from Wyoming.

UConn has a Class 2004 commitment from receiver/defensive back Brandon McClean of Hamden-Hyde School, Conn.
