Oregon QB selects Tennessee

Top 150 quarterback Erik Ainge of Hillsboro-Glencoe, Ore., has chosen the Tennessee Vols over UCLA, Oregon, Arizona State and Oregon State. His uncle is Danny Ainge, who was College Player of the Year in basketball at BYU and played 14 years in the NBA.

Notre Dame has pledged defensive lineman Ronald Talley of Detroit-Renaissance, Mich., over Iowa, Michigan State, Louisville, Indiana and Wisconsin.

The Texas Longhorns have their 18th pledge in linebacker Jeremy Campbell of Dallas-Lake Highlands, Tex., over Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Colorado and Michigan State, among others.

Big Ten Verbal List
Quarterback Andre Sloan El of Philadelphia-Roman Catholic, Pa., has committed to Minnesota over interest from Indiana, Iowa, Temple and Kent State. The Gophers also added quarterback David Wess of Whitehall, Ohio; punter Justin Kucek of Canfield, Ohio; and linebacker Leland Jones of Atlanta-Douglass, Ga. Minnesota recently gained defensive lineman Everette Pedescleaux of Robbinsdale-Armstrong, Minn., who had picked Northern Iowa for basketball and did not sign during the early period. He is expected to walk-on for Gopher basketball. Freshman quarterback Pete Martinson of Palm Beach Gardens-Dwyer, Fla., will transfer after redshirting this season.

Kansas has commitments from defensive back Theo Baines and defensive lineman Jermail Ashley, both from Tyler CC, Tex. The Jayhawks recently gained defensive back Rodney Harris of San Bernardino Valley CC, Cal; defensive back Aqib Talib of Richardson-Berkner, Tex; linebacker Mozell Axson of Lakeland-Jenkins, Fla; and receiver Dexton Fields of Dallas-South Oak Cliff, Tex.

Baylor pledged linebacker/running back Marcus Mead of Alva, Okla. The Bears recently gained linebackers Bradley Bullitt of Garland-Naaman Forest, Tex., over Iowa State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, SMU and Kansas State; and Geoff Nelson of Cedar Hill, Tex.

West Virginia pledged defensive back Alton McCann of Jones County CC, Miss. The Mountaineers recently gained receiver Brandon Barrett of Martinsburg-Senior, WVa., over Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

Florida State has a commitment from defensive back Jonathan Warren of Madison, Fla., over Florida, Iowa State and East Carolina.

The Golden Hurricane recently gained defensive lineman Tommy Daniels of Ennis, Tex; tight end Brandon Jones of Duncanville, Tex; and athlete Ted Curtis of Moore, Okla.

SMU pledged defensive back Corley Blackmon of Bay City, Tex. The Mustangs recently gained running back DeMyron Martin of Allen, Tex., committed to over New Mexico State and Tulsa.

Fresno State pledged linebacker Ryan McKinley of Reno, Nev.

Washington pledged defensive backs Dashon Goldson of Harbor City-Narbonne, Cal/Coffeyville CC, Kan; and Mesphin Forrester of Venice, Cal. The Huskies recently gained athlete Dan Howell of Newhall-Hart, Cal., over Colorado State and Fresno State; and running back/linebacker Luke Kravitz of Olympia, Wash.

Arizona State has pledged defensive back Antone Saulsberry of Bellfower, Cal. The Sun Devils recently gained defensive back Angelo Fobbs-Valentino of San Mateo-Serra, Cal; and linebacker Dale Robinson of Glendale CC, Ariz.

The UCLA Bruins gained tight end Matt Raney of Phoenix CC, Ariz., over Arizona State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Temple and East Carolina. The Bruins recently added offensive lineman Chris Joseph of San Ynez, Cal.

Receiver Kevin Swanigan of CC of San Francisco, Cal., is set for Oregon State.

BYU has a pledge from defensive back Turmarian Moreland of Los Angeles Valley CC, Cal., over interest from Syracuse, Kansas and Hawaii.

Colorado State has pledges from offensive lineman Dan Gury and defensive lineman/athlete Chris Kawulok, both from Louisville-Monarch, Colo. The Rams recently gained defensive lineman Tommie Hill of Littleton-Arapahoe, Colo., over interest from Wyoming, Utah, Oregon and Nebraska.
