Kyle Busch was docked 25 points and crew chief Steve Addington was fined $25,000 Tuesday by NASCAR for a post-race violation Sunday at New Hampshire on the No. 18 Toyota.
The height of the car was too low at the left front fender when inspected after the race. Addington was placed on probation until the end of the year. In addition, team owner Joe Gibbs was fined 25 points.
The penalties are a relative slap on the wrist after officials discovered a part failure caused the height violation. The penalties have little impact since Busch failed to make the Chase, and he remains 13th in the points.
