A highly decorated former Hoosier player in the early '70s, Joby later became an assistant coach under Knight from 1981-90 after stints in both the ABA and NBA. An All- Big Ten selection and Indiana Team MVP in 1972, Joby was Coach Knight's best recruiter and was integral in putting together the 1987 national championship squad as well as Knight's 1984 gold medal U.S. Olympic Team. A former player with name recognition, he spoke the players' language and they looked up to him. As a member of Knight's staff, Joby played both sides of the fence as both friend to the players and when need be, an extension of Knight's discipline.
After leaving Indiana, Wright went on to become the head coach at the University of Wyoming, Miami (OH), the Cincinnati Stuff of the IBL and most recently has been on the staff of the Harlem Globetrotters.
