COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Dante Washington scored early in the
second half and rookie goalkeeper Jon Busch made six saves for his
second career shutout as the Columbus Crew beat D.C. United 1-0
Washington beat goalkeeper Nick Rimando near the goalpost with a
low shot from the right side of the box in the 52nd minute. Brian
West and Brian Maisonneuve assisted on the forward's sixth goal of
the season. Washington hit a post with a header four minutes
Columbus (7-8-4) is 2-0-1 in its last three games, but won for
the first time in its last four at home.
One of Busch's saves came on Richie Williams' shot from 18 yards
in the 26th minute. Both of Busch's shutouts and three of his four
wins have been against D.C. (6-10-2).
United have the worst road record in the league this season,
with only a tie in eight games. They are also winless in their last
five games overall.
United played without starters Marco Etcheverry, Ivan McKinley,
Santino Quaranta, and Eddie Pope because of injury or suspension.
