Colucci is WUSA's one-millionth fan

[Associated Press]

BOSTON -- The WUSA reached the one-million mark in league attendance Saturday when 11-year-old Sara Colucci passed through the turnstiles to see the Boston Breakers play the San Jose CyberRays.

Colucci, a sixth-grader from Rochester, N.H., was adorned in a Kristine Lilly t-shirt and face paint. She was given a ball autographed by Lilly and CyberRays captain Brandi Chastain, a VIP seat upgrade, an autographed Lilly jersey and an invitation to participate in the pregame coin toss.

"It's kind of funny," Colucci said. "I wasn't expecting anything like this."

The Breakers lead the WUSA in home attendance with an average of 10,049 customers per game. After averaging 8,104 in its inaugural season, league attendance dropped to an average of 7,720 this season.

The Washington Freedom, featuring the league's biggest draw, Mia Hamm, is second in average home attendance at 8,212.
