Rogic set to join Celtic

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Tom Rogic could join Scottish giants Celtic as early as Wednesday, with the A-League club expecting a formal offer in the next 24 hours.

Rogic, 20, is currently on a five-day trial with the Bhoys at their mid-season camp in Spain, with Celtic boss Neil Lennon hoping to extend the youngster's stay.

According to Australian newspaper the Daily Telegraph, Celtic could make an offer close to £500,000 (AU$750.000) and request Rogic features in Wednesday's friendly match against Steaua Bucharest.

Lennon told Scotland's Daily Record that he is hoping Rogic will be available for selection after a deal is formalised, although Central Coast want their star to return immediately if contract talks stall.

"We will have to be careful about it for insurance reasons and stuff like that," Lennon said. "We would like to play Rogic (on Wednesday) but if that's not the case it's not a big problem.

"We like the look of him, like the cut of him. Reading were interested but we stole a march on them, so we will see how he does. We're hoping to get him back to Glasgow for another week.

"I think he's worth the money from what I've seen but I'd like to have a proper look before we decide."

Premier League clubs QPR, Reading and Fulham were all reportedly interested in Rogic, although there have been no further offers from the English clubs.
