Bailey beats Arroyo in unanimous decision

MIAMI -- Former WBO junior welterweight champion Randall
Bailey won a lopsided unanimous decision over Costa Rica's Lenin
Arroyo on Friday night.

Bailey's speed and power shots frustrated Arroyo throughout the
eight-round welterweight bout at Miccosukee Indian Gaming.

Early in the second, Bailey (30-5) floored Arroyo with a right
to the head for the fight's only knockdown. Bailey also had Arroyo
in trouble late in the round, when he caught him with unanswered
combinations to the head near the ropes.

A game Arroyo used brawling tactics seeking to frustrate Bailey
but Bailey continued to use his distance in the following rounds
and peppered Arroyo with right uppercuts and straight rights to the

The accumulation of shots showed on Arroyo's face in the final
two rounds. Arroyo (15-4-1) bled from the nose and his left eye was
nearly shut.

With a seemingly convincing lead, Bailey stayed away from a
charging Arroyo in the final round.
