Ryan Babel accepts FA's charge
LIVERPOOL, England -- Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has accepted a charge of improper conduct by the English Football Association after he criticized a Premier League referee in a Twitter post, and faces a disciplinary hearing.
The Netherlands international team member posted a digitally altered picture of referee Howard Webb wearing a Manchester United shirt after being angered by the referee's decisions in Liverpool's 1-0 loss Sunday at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.
Babel also wrote: "And they call him one of the best referees. That's a joke."
A statement published on Liverpool's website Thursday says the forward has admitted to the charge and has requested a personal hearing, which will take place on Monday.
Babel could receive a fine or ban from the FA.
