Stuart Holden to have tests on knee
MANCHESTER, England -- United States midfielder Stuart Holden has been taken to a hospital to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained during Bolton's 1-0 loss at Manchester United.
Holden sustained a deep gash in his left knee Saturday after a challenge by United defender Jonny Evans, and needed to be carried off on a stretcher. The midfielder was taken to a hospital for exams, and Bolton manager Owen Coyle was hopeful there was no ligament or bone damage.
Coyle said that "without pre-empting anything, I have spoken to our doctor and physio, and they are hoping it is only a cut. His knee is [cut] open."
Evans was given a straight red card for the 76th-minute challenge.
