Williams, Myskina withdraw from German Open

BERLIN -- Australian Open champion Serena Williams on Wednesday pulled out of next week's German Open because of a groin injury. She has played just four tournaments this year.

The former top-ranked American withdrew on April 11 from the Charleston event with a strained groin and then pulled out April 22 from the Fed Cup match against Belgium with a right knee injury.

Former French Open winner Anastasia Myskina also withdrew Wednesday with a toe injury.
