Kloesel advances in Grand Prix quarters

FEZ, Morocco -- Sandra Kloesel of Germany reached the
quarterfinals of the Grand Prix SAR Princess Lalla Meryem when
eighth-seeded Anne Kremer of Luxembourg retired with a lower back
injury while trailing 6-0, 3-1 Thursday.

Kloesel will next face Maria Emilia Salerni of Argentina, who
followed her upset of top-seeded Sania Mirza by beating Youlia
Fedossova of France 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. It will be first the
quarterfinal of the year for both Kloesel and Salerni.

In another second-round match, Milagros Sequera of Venezuela
downed Neha Uberoi of the United States 6-4, 6-0 to reach her first
quarterfinal since 2004.

Seventh-seeded Camille Pin of France also advanced when she
outlasted Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (1).
