Bammer, Rezai, Rodionova, Paszek knocked out

BIRMINGHAM, England -- Fourth-seeded Sybille Bammer was among four seeded players who were knocked out Tuesday from the DFS Classic, a grass-court warmup for Wimbledon.

Bammer lost to British wild-card entry Melanie South 6-3, 7-5, while No. 9 Tamira Paszek, No. 13 Aravane Rezai and No. 16 Anastasia Rodionova also lost.

Six seeds have now been knocked out -- No. 10 Akgul Amanmuradova and No. 14 Jill Craybas lost on Monday -- in a tournament hit by the withdrawals of second-ranked Maria Sharapova, defending champion Jelena Jankovic and French Open finalist Dinara Safina.

Tamarine Tanasugarn easily beat Paszek 6-1, 6-0. Rezai lost 6-1, 6-4 to American Bethanie Mattek. Camille Pin beat Rodionova 7-5, 7-6 (2).
