What potentially do you see the Bengals doing on day one of the Draft?
Mel Kiper (1:04 PM)
I think the Bengals have to think about a DB, like Jimmy Williams. In the second round, go for a TE, like a Dominique Byrd.
Hey Mel, who are the Colts most likely to take at RB in the draft?
Mel Kiper (1:05 PM)
I think Maroney is the guy. I also hear Joseph Addai, because they are versatile. They want someone who can block as well.
Mel you are the best in the biz! Any chance my beloved Eagles move up in the draft to get Ngata? What do you see the Birds doing in this draft?
Mel Kiper (1:06 PM)
I think if you look at their needs, LG, LT, C, DT, LB. I would say they have a history of moving up to get linemen. In this case, do they see a reason to move up to get a lineman? If they want Ngata, I see him going in the mid-first.
Why is everyone dismissing Jerome Harrison as one of the top 5 RB's? He had 1900 yards for a mediocre team in tough conference.
Mel Kiper (1:07 PM)
He's a good football player. I was impressed with him all year. He had some huge games. I thought the big thing with him is he caught the ball well this year. But he still needs work. He needs more work in catching the football. I think he'll project in the third round in the draft. If he were more consistent catching the football, I think he'd be a second rounder.
The Patriots need a number of things, RB, WR, DB, LB. I see three players all from Ohio ST that could be a good fit for them Ashton Youboty, Bobby Carpenter, and Santanio Holmes. Any chance they take on of these guys with the 21st pick.
Mel Kiper (1:09 PM)
I would say Holmes would be a great pick for them at that point. He's very quick and tough. I thought he had a huge year for the Buckeyes. He's 5-10, so he's not too small, not huge. He'd make sense for the Patriots. Then they might get a Brian Calhoun in the second. They have six picks in the first day.
Matt Lavery: Beaver Falls PA.
Players from the University of Miami have always done well in the NFL Draft. I was wondering how many players from Miami you could see going in the 1st round of this years draft.
Mel Kiper (1:11 PM)
There's two that I have in the first and two that could go. Four possible. Kelly Jennings and Sinorice Moss in the first round. Eric Winston I have as the first pick in the second round. Orien Harris has the chance to be an early second. Rocky McIntosh is also an early second. So I'd say two will, four or five could go in the first round.
Bryan (Dallas, TX)
Hey Mel, Any chance that the Cowboys trade up in order to secure Winston Justice? It just seems like OT is a much bigger need than saftey.
Mel Kiper (1:12 PM)
They've added guys. Dallas went out in FA and did some things. When you look at them on paper, they have some need areas that supercede the OL. I think they could now look at a free safety. Jason Allen a CB/S, Manny Lawson a DE. They would be nice choices for the Cowboys. In the second round, Marcus McNeill if they're still thinking OL.
Dmelt, Phoenix AZ
The Cardinals have huge needs on the OL. OG can be addressed later.. Are there any Tackles worth taking with the 10th over-all pick?
Mel Kiper (1:13 PM)
The only offensive tackle, with Ferguson already gone, worth taking is Winston Justice to play right tackle. In the second round, they could think about Leonard Pope as a TE. Then in the third round, they have to get a linebacker. I have them taking Jon Austin.
If Brady Quinn would have came out this year, would he have been a sure first rounder and where would he rank among the QBs?
Mel Kiper (1:14 PM)
He probably in my ratings would have fallen in third, Leinart, Young, Brady Cutler.
Mel Kiper (1:15 PM)
Next year, he could be looking at the No. 1 pick overall. That's a great move for him in coming back.
Braden (New Brunswick, NJ)
With the Signing of Ricky Manning Jr. could the Bears take Maurice Stovall at 26, he has the size and blocking ability to make the TE switch if he added bulk (like Desmond Clark, who was a receptions leader in the ACC as a wideout)
Mel Kiper (1:16 PM)
I don't think you take Stovall that early with that idea in mind. There are many TEs in this draft, it's too deep. I like him, he's a good football player. He's going to project as a second rounder, maybe early third. Looking at Chicago's needs, TE is something they look at, maybe Lewis late in the first round.
scott (st. louis)
kiper, why is no one talking about brad smith? he was a stud in college, i know he will probably be moved to WR but this guy is a great athlete, what round do you think he will be drafted in?
Mel Kiper (1:17 PM)
Smith has moved up a little bit, because now people are thinking maybe he can play QB. He's athletically gifted. He needs a quality QB coach. He's more accurate than people think. Right now there are some teams that are thinking about QB initially.

Is Greenway and Sims really not going to be there for the Vikings at 17?
Mel Kiper (1:18 PM)
I think Sims will, I don't think Greenway will. Sims is a fast, sideline-to-sideline LB. The thing with him is his durability. He's had some injuries in college.

Mel, What do you see the giants doing with their 1st couple picks. and is it going to be enough to compete with wash. and dallas this year?
Mel Kiper (1:19 PM)
Washington made strides and Dallas made strides in free agency, but Washington doesn't have any draft picks early. The Giants have needs at OLB, maybe Bobby Carpenter. They could use another corner and a DT.
Tom (Detroit, MI)
Mel, tell me what scouts love about Chad Greenway, I know he has a great motor, but I don't see how he projects better in the NFL than his teammate Abdul Hodge.
Mel Kiper (1:21 PM)
Hodge has a solid grade too. It's not that Hodge has been overlooked. He's a great prospect. He could be a second round pick. He could be interesting for Tennessee, Cleveland. There are several teams that could be looking at him. Greenway, when he worked out individually, that's what put him up so high. He ran a 4.56 and did 19 reps and did a 38 vertical. He ran a 4.77 at the combine, so he improved his speed and the other areas between the combine and the individual workout. I have him going No. 11 overall to the Rams.
What do you make of the Denver-SF swap of picks?
Mel Kiper (1:23 PM)
Denver picks up a two and a three as well as an early third. It gives them great opportunity to pick up more picks. They still have a 15th pick. It gives them an opportunity. San Francisco has the 6th pick and now the 22nd. Maybe now they can get a CB. Many of the good ones would be gone by 37 where they draft in the second round. It could be a Hill, Allen, Cromartie, Jennings. They're in the mix now to get the corner they want the most.
Mike (Raleigh NC)
Hey Mel! Some people say that Manny Lawson could be a Jason Taylor-type player. Do you think he could slip to Carolina? Can they wait until Round 2 and get Calhoun at RB?
Mel Kiper (1:25 PM)
Calhoun will be gone just before Carolina picks. I have Calhoun going to New England. As for Lawson, he could be there. But I've heard Dallas wants Lawson. Kansas City also is interested. He could go as high as 18. He's locked in the first round somewhere.
Is Winston from Miami a true LT prospect on the next level?? If he is, why wouldn't the Giants take him? LT is much harder to fill than LB and if you don't draft one, eventually you will overpay a free agent.
Mel Kiper (1:26 PM)
I think he's one of those guys that will ultimately be used at LT right away and then ultimately move him to RT. That's a nice accomplishment for him, moving into the second round or maybe a late first rounder.
Hey Mel, in your mock you have the Ravens taking Ngata in the 1st and Croyle in the 2nd. Don't you think that not having a starting FS is a huge need, especially without a 3rd round pick?
Mel Kiper (1:27 PM)
Yes it is, but you can't hit everything. I thought with Baltimore, they also need a nickel back. A free safety early, you might look at Dante Whitner or Jason Allen. In the second maybe Danieal Manning. They need a DT. Brodie Croyle could be in the mix as a QB of the future.
Kurt Volger (Denver, CO)
Hey Mel! What's the latest with Mathias Kiwanuka? I haven't heard his name much? Where might he land?
Mel Kiper (1:28 PM)
He wasn't productive over the entire season. He was productive over three games only. Now he's a second rounder.
Nathan Mexico City
Hi Mel, what do you think the Raiders must do?
Mel Kiper (1:29 PM)
They have to come up with a DB, that's why I think Huff at 7. If Young's there, then pick him. But they need a DB and continue to upgrade the defensive side of the ball. LB, DL, OL. they have a ton of need areas.
Mel Kiper (1:31 PM)
