Mel Kiper (1:01 PM)
We have a lot of bowl games on Saturday. Let's talk about who might be staying and who might be coming out!
James: Clinton Twp. Michigan
Who sould the Lions pick First overall? why?
Mel Kiper (1:04 PM)
I think they have to take a QB. The passed on some QB's the past couple of years and now they are in dire need of one. Last year they could have Joe Flacco and they passed. They can get Bradford or Stafford. Bradford is 50/50 on coming out but could be a No. 1 pick. They can also drop down and take a QB in the second round. Maybe get Josh Freeman from Kansas State could be a good choice as a late first of early second round QB pick of the Lions.
Mel, What bowl games are you going to?
Mel Kiper (1:07 PM)
I won't go to any of them. I prefer to use this time to evaluate kids from the regular season.
Matt (Gainesville, FL)
Honestly, how much will the Murray injury really hurt the Sooners?
Mel Kiper (1:12 PM)
He is a guy that can be explosive. He can run through tackles and break out afterwards. They will miss his big play ability. He average 12 yards per catch and that will be missed. He also is a treat on special teams as a kick off returner. He average 27 yards Chris Brown and Mossis Madu, a third year sophomore will have to step up. Senior WR, Juaquin Iglefiaf becomes the Sooners main kick off returner. Murray's injury hurts the Sooners in many different was but that just means other players have to show and play.
Do you see either of the Texas WR's, Shipley or Cosby, making it to the NFL?
Mel Kiper (1:14 PM)
I think both of them can make it. Spipley reminds me of Ricky Proehl. Both had great years for Texas and came through in the clutch. Both will have the opportunity to play in the NFL.
Matt (Gainesville, FL)
Who would be the most likely candidate to replace Derrick Brooks on the Bucs? Brandon Spikes maybe?
Mel Kiper (1:16 PM)
Spikes has the chance to be one of the elite LB's in this years draft. This is a kid that is a force against the run and was a big play at Florida. How high he goes in the draft is up to his 40 time at the columbine.
Michael (Long Beach, CA)
Any word on whether Gresham is staying for his senior year?
Mel Kiper (1:20 PM)
I heard but I would assume that he would come out early. OU's Sam Bradford could come out early and the entire left side of the OU offensive line is graduating and all the WR's are leaving too. If he stays, they will have to rebuild the entire OL and this is something that he really needs to think about it. Gresham is the best Junior TE in the draft but Brandon Pettigruw is the best overall TE in the draft. He can go early in the first round but it depends on how his workouts go.

Where will Shonn Greene end up? Is he the most underrated player in the draft coming up?
Mel Kiper (1:22 PM)
This was his first year as a feature back at Iowa. He is a powerful runner with great balance. What he needs to work on is his pass catching ability. I think he will be well served to stay another year at Iowa.

Who do you think will be better on the pros Tim Tebow, Or Sam Bradford
Mel Kiper (1:26 PM)
As a QB Sam Bradford who reminds me of Peyton Manning. BUT Bradford never has to deal will adversity in the pocket. He had a great OL and I don't know if he can deal with the pass rushing of the NFL. He has all the skills to be a great QB on the next level. I think Tebow will make a great H-back but I don't see him as a QB. He can maybe be a No. 3 QB. I see Tebow as another Frank Wycheck, who went from a RB in college to a TE in the league. I see Tebow going from a QB to maybe a pass catching TE.
Hi Mel. What are Mark Herzlich's draft prospects, were he to declare?
Mel Kiper (1:29 PM)
Very good. Right now he is my second highest junior only behind Aaron Maybin, a DE from Penn State. Herzlich became one of the premier OLB. He makes plays from sideline to sideline and is great against the run. He is the kind of kid you want on your side of the football.
Joe (GR, MI)
Where could Javon Ringer go in the draft if he runs a 4.42 40?
Mel Kiper (1:33 PM)
If he runs in the 4.4 range, he will be a solid second round pick. If you look at Chris Johnson who had a great year at ECU, ran a 4.24, who barley made it in the first round. Ringer is a blue collier type back that is the Spartans best pass blocking RB by a wide margin. If he runs in the 4.4 range, he can be a solid second round pick. If he runs in the 4.5 range, he can be a solid third or fourth round pick.
Where do you see Pat White going and will he get a shot at QB?
Mel Kiper (1:35 PM)
He will be your third QB but I see him as a WR in the NFL. Coming out of high school, he was recruited as a WR in the SEC and that's why he ended up a West Virginia because he was allowed to play QB. I think he will be an Antwaan Randal-El. Pat White is a second or third round pick.

Hey Mel. What are the odds of Beanie Wells staying in Columbus?
Mel Kiper (1:40 PM)
If I had to guess, I would say that he would come out. I think that he has the chance to be a top five pick. The only question that I will have is his durability.
This is a great year for RB's because there are no senior RB's out there. Knowshon Mareno of UGA and LeSean McCoy of Pitt are both third year sophomores that would be able to make that move to the NFL. CJ Spiller, James Starks might think of coming out early.
Hi Mel - Around mid-season, you had Rashad Johnson as a 4th rounder. Has he improved that standing over the second half of the season? Thanks!
Mel Kiper (1:43 PM)
I think we will have to wait and see. I don't know what Taylor Mayes is going to go. He's a great player but he lacks in size. This kid had a great year and I think he will be a good player in the NFL but I'm worried about his 184-188 pound frame. To me, he is a second round pick and at worst he is a third rounder.
Tyler (Hilton, New York)
Who do you think is the best team in the NFL right now? And who do you think will win the super bowl?
Mel Kiper (1:44 PM)
That's the million dollar question!
Mel Kiper (1:49 PM)
Just because they find ways to win, I say the Steelers. In the NFL, you have to be able to win close games and the Steelers have shown that they can finish games. The Colts are getting it together and they aren't far behind. In the NFC, the Giants are the most talented but I don't think they can overcome the Burress loss. It's not easy to put them back in the Super Bowl but it can happen. Carolina is coming up and is a threat. They are the two best teams in the NFC and they play each other this Sunday and it should be a great game.
What about Graham Harrell? Can he be a QB in the NFL? If so, what round?
Mel Kiper (1:51 PM)
He can be but he has to add some weight to his 6'2 frame. He's similar to Colt Brennan. I like the way that he leads his team and they way he throws the ball but he's another QB that hasn't shown that he can handle the pass rush. He will have a chance in the NFL and can go in the fourth or fifth round.
D Olds (Marianna, Fl)
Do you think Percy Harvin will return for his senior year at Florida
Mel Kiper (1:54 PM)
No! I think he is too highly rated. He is a great pass catching option; he can play in the wildcat offense, and is just so versatile. He is a score bored changer. They only problem I see is his durability. But when he is at full strength, he is a great player. I think he will be a top 10-15 pick.
Mel Kiper (1:57 PM)
Talk to you next weekend as we prepare for the bowl games. Watch me tomorrow morning on First Take as we talk about the juniors who are looking to leave and their potential impact in the NFL.
