Craig Haubert (3:01 PM)
Welcome Everyone!! Only a few shopping days left and not many shopping days left for programs either as National Signing Day is coming soon!!
Craig Haubert (3:03 PM)
I was at the Alabama/Miss All-star game this past weekend so if you have questions about that feel free - lets get started.
jason dayton ohio
craig what are the chances the bucks get marlon brown and tajh boyd
Craig Haubert (3:05 PM)
I think it is good for both, but not great for either. The Buckeyes are in the hunt for both so can not count them out! BUT I can't help but feel Brown will end up at Tennessee & Boyd at BC.
PSU just got the verbal from K. Newsome. Some sem to think he doesn't project well at QB. Do you think he can start at that position in 2 years? cause they got no one else now.
Craig Haubert (3:08 PM)
I agree with Luginbill who wrote that T. Boyd may have been a better fit. We like Newsome, but as far as a QB goes we feel Boyd is the more natural passer and fit at that position. I/We think he needs work. He is a good athlete and with coaching could end up being the guy. The good thing is, if Clark stays healthy next year Newsome will have a good year to prepare. This was though a great and smart choice for Newsome.
Do you believe ESPN150 recruit Logan Thomas has any chance to stay at QB for the Hokies?
Craig Haubert (3:09 PM)
No -- I could see some packages developed to line him up there in certain cases, but overall he is an H-Back/TE guy in college.
Jimmy (Columbus, Ohio)
Since it's down to Ohio State, Oregon and Boston College for Tajh Boyd, does he have the skill set to step in right away if the starter at those schools were to get hurt?
Craig Haubert (3:11 PM)
Back on Boyd again -- i do think he could step in play. Very tough for a true freshman to play QB and there would be some bumps along the way, but the kid has good ability, great attitude, and works hard. I do think he could play if called on, but would be best if he could ease into the position.
Michigan has added a few huge pieces recently with DB Vlad Emilien, WR Cam Gordon, and most recently, OL Taylor Lewan. I've read a lot of inspiring articles re: Lewan, they make him seem like the steal of '09, how does Scouts rank him?
Craig Haubert (3:13 PM)
We like Lewan -- In fact he is playing in the Under Armour game. I first saw him over the summer in June at a USC camp and was intrigued by him. He has great upside at OT - needs to add serious bulk, and still has to learn the position some as he was a DT, but he has taken to it quickly and played well and should just get better.
Craig Haubert (3:14 PM)
Be sure to check out the UA practices on ESPNU to get a closer look at Lewan.
randy (Los Angelos)
Why has Matt Barkley fallen so much?
Craig Haubert (3:16 PM)
I would not say so much -- he is still top 10 and a great prospect -- has the tools, work ethic, very polished. It though was a tough season for him. He was not surrounded by great talent either so had to shoulder the load some.
Craig Haubert (3:17 PM)
Also part of the problem is some other guys like QB Garrett Gilbert have played great and so have moved up - when that happens someone has to move done.
Craig Haubert (3:18 PM)
Don't panic Barkley is still a great prospect and will get a chance to show off his skills at the Under Armour game
where is dt corey adams going to play?
Craig Haubert (3:20 PM)
This is a tough one -- looked like this may be coming to an end, but it looks now like his recruitment will go into the new year. ASU is legit as is OSU, but they are filling up quick.
Jarrod (Waialua, HI)
What school do you think Manti Te'o will attend?
Craig Haubert (3:21 PM)
I think either USC or BYU
Will Dre Kirkpatrick be suiting up for the tide this fall?
Craig Haubert (3:21 PM)
Would be shocked if he didn't -- BOY did he look good this weekend even in limited play - he is our new No.2 player overall.
Is the fact that Michigan is not signing as many Midwest recruits helping Ohio State's efforts?
Craig Haubert (3:24 PM)
Not really - Michigan has always recruited a bit more nationally.
Will Hodges play SS or Will for PSU, how good is he?
Craig Haubert (3:26 PM)
We like Gerald Hodges a lot - and i think he will play safety at PSU - at least to start out -- more need there - but depending on how things shake out and he develops physically could end up playing LB.
Ben (Carrollton, GA)
AL/MS All Star Game question: What did you think of Georgia Tech commitment Orwin Smith? Sounds like he had a strong game.
Craig Haubert (3:29 PM)
He played well -- strong 1st half -- 3 carries for for 33 yards -- don't know his 2nd half stats -- The RB who stood out the most was Shawn Southward.
Do you see PSU landing Jenkins?
Craig Haubert (3:30 PM)
Still plenty of schools in the running for Jenkins, but i do think PSU has a very good shot with him.
Question on Texas recruit Alex Okafor. Other services have him as a 5 star top 20 prospect in the nation. What are your thoughts on him?
Craig Haubert (3:33 PM)
We like Okafor -- a top 15 DE prospect - I think he is a sound player -- really like the way he plays the position. Good motor and plays smart -- a very good prospect.
How good will the Fighting Illini recruiting class be?
Craig Haubert (3:36 PM)
The additions of Kraig Appleton and Craig Drummond really boosted this class. I think it is a bit of an under-rated class and Zook is doing very well in state.
Do you think tennessee will sign a quarterback thanks.
Craig Haubert (3:37 PM)
Yes -- who?? most of the top QB's (top 35ish) are off the board and i think they will have a tough time swaying most of them if any. I am sure Kiffin will find someone he feels he can work with and develop for his scheme - who that is at this point not sure.
I know scholarships are a few this year, but can Urban Meyer pull off a top 5-10 class
Craig Haubert (3:39 PM)
Sure - they are at #8 right now -- and Florida closes well.
Do you think Miami has a shot at Rueben Randle?
Craig Haubert (3:40 PM)
It looked that way a few months ago, but not anymore -- looks to be developing into a LSU, Alabama tussle mainly
Is D.J. Fluker the best player from Miss?
Craig Haubert (3:41 PM)
He would be -- but he is not from Mississippi anymore -- played there as a junior, but attends Foley HS now in Alabama
Craig Haubert (3:42 PM)
Thanks everyone -- I have to run - I appreciate you stopping by. Take care.
