Matthew will be here soon!
Matthew Barnaby (3:34 PM)
Unbelievable opening round. One of the best I can remember.
What were the Flames missing to go further into the playoffs?
Matthew Barnaby (3:36 PM)
It came down to injuries to me. Regeher was hurt and Phaneuf could not play with broken ribs in Game 6, that's tough to overcome. And the Hawks' PP was unreal.

Malkin and Crosby or Ovechkin and Semin?
Matthew Barnaby (3:37 PM)
I take Malkin and Crosby. You cannot go wrong with either one, but if I were starting a team I would go with Crosby No. 1. By the way, Pens in seven.

The NHL has a great marketing opportunity with Crosby/Malkin v Ovechkin. How can they take advantage of it?
Matthew Barnaby (3:38 PM)
I'd have them postered everywhere. This is like Magic v. Bird, Tiger v., Phil. These are the guys that sell the game and this is what the NHL dreamed of. They have to get these guys out in front of the world as much as possible...and play up the hate thing.

Go Canes!!! Do they have a chance to get past Boston?
Matthew Barnaby (3:39 PM)
I do not think so. I have Boston winning the East. But the cardiac Canes have pulled off so many surprises this year, and with the way Cam Ward is playing in net, they can. But I think Boston is too deep.
Alexander Ovechkin, awesome or super awesome?
Matthew Barnaby (3:40 PM)
Super Awesome offensively. And Super Awesome for the NHL.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I know it was an eight over a one but just how shocking was for Anaheim to beat San Jose?
Matthew Barnaby (3:42 PM)
For me I went 7-1 in the opening round, the one loss being the SJ pick. I thought this was the year Thorton and Marleau would lead this team deep, and yet, once again, they came up well short.
With the way he played the end of the season and the 1st round of the playoffs, is there any chance the Hawks will try and resign Khabi and trade Huet this off season?
Matthew Barnaby (3:44 PM)
Great question. I have not contacted Chicago about that yet. But I think they would love to have Khabibulin back. Unfortunately, trading Huet now will be a little more difficult.

Washington vs pittsburgh who will advance and why?
Matthew Barnaby (3:45 PM)
Earlier I said Pens in 7. I think Washington will not be able to control their forwards. They are too quick and will be facing a totally different animals. The Caps at time struggled on defense against the Rangers and I think the Pens' forwards are too strong.
Do you think the Flyers need to get some more "heart"-type of players? They seemed to outplay Pittsburgh most of their series but didn't seem to have that kick to finish. Thanks!
Matthew Barnaby (3:46 PM)
I think they ran into a hot goaltenders. They played well and Richards was not himself. He opted for shoulder surgery right after the series. I think the future is bright for the Flyers, and they just ran into a hot Marc-Andre Fleury.
Rank these guys by which you would want on your team. Ovie, Crosby, Iggy, Malkin,
Matthew Barnaby (3:47 PM)
Crosby, Ovie, Malkin, Iggy...Barnaby, ha!

Should the Ducks incorporate the infamous "Knuckle Puck" into their game plan, and if so, do you think it would confuse the Red Wings as it did Iceland in D2: The Mighty Ducks?
Matthew Barnaby (3:49 PM)
I have seen that movie 1,000 times because of my son. The knuckle puck is a very secret weapon. I had it ion my arsenal, but that was because I could not shoot the puck hard enough.

Canucks or B'Hawks in how many games?
Matthew Barnaby (3:50 PM)
I have the Canucks in 6. Luongo to me was the best player in round one and his numbers in the playoffs have been ridiculous.

What should we do with Avery?
Matthew Barnaby (3:52 PM)
I am glad you are able to type despite the sore hand. Hopefully you guys can get Avery to buy into the system. He showed at times in the series that he can be a very effective player. Probably the best player on the ice in Game 7. Unfortunately his discipline in the series could have cost them early in the series. They are on the hook for 6 million in 3 years, good luck.

Who would you pick for the Hart Trophy? I don't see how you don't give it to Malkin. I think Ovechkin is selfish and is only thinking offense all the time. You cant take away how Malkin is all over the ice all the team, including in the defensive zone. Malkin or Ovechkin?
Matthew Barnaby (3:54 PM)
In guess Malkin wins in that case. To me it's Ovechkin with ten more goals than anyone else, they won the division, and he brings such an intensity. Malkin had a great year, and he will finish second, but to me it's Ovie.

I think the Blackhawks are 2 years away from the stanley cup, what do you think?
Matthew Barnaby (3:55 PM)
They are on the upswing, and will have a great series and eventually lose the Vancouver. I would not disagree with you. To win the Cup you have to go through growing pains, but most of those growing pains are over for them. This is a great team with a great future.
Hey Barnaby,I thought you switched to an Ovie guy this year?
Matthew Barnaby (3:56 PM)
No, not at all. I think Ovie was the best player this year. I think he was the most dominant guy, this year. But if I were starting a team I would still take Crosby because I take centers over wingers. Also Crosby is a more complete player.

Do you think philly should start looking for a goalie? I don't know how many more biron softies I can take. PS. Flyers beat themselves.
Matthew Barnaby (3:58 PM)
You know what, I do not think Marty played all that bad this time, but he did not outplay Fleury. It's been a cause for concerns for over a decade for Flyers fans. But I am not going to hang this series on Marty.
what/Who do you see as the biggest obstacle to the Wings repeating?
Matthew Barnaby (3:59 PM)
I think it will be the Canucks. I think they will meet and anytime you face one of the great goaltenders in the world it is cause for concern. Right now, to me, Roberto Lungo is the best goaltender in the world.
Matthew Barnaby (4:00 PM)
Second series start tonight. Everyone enjoy. And whether you like Crosby or Ovie, this series will be a beauty. Talk to you next week and hopefully I dominate Barry with my picks...again.
