Debbie - Saratoga NY
Hey Steve - This is Debbie, your biggest Frostbite Fan - I was wondering if you missed owning a pro team and what you think about Glens Falls getting a top level minor league hockey team. Also, congrats on your engagement -
Steve Levy (5:40 PM)
debbie, nice to hear from you...i miss owning the frostbite and glens falls very much...dont miss losing all that money so much...i'm thrilled the area is getting pro hockey back, i just hope the locals support them more than they supported us...i know you will do your part...engaged? who you been talking to?
i would like your thoughts on how espn could cut away from the college world series to show the atbats of a convicted performance enhancer user (manny).as a sports nut it sickens me to see everyone making manny into a rock star, when he cheated everyone.thanks, patrick connell
Steve Levy (5:43 PM)
patrick you make a very interesting point and it is a point that was brought up in our sportscenter meeting yesterday...to treat manny's return as a news item as opposed to a celebration of the return of a guy who broke the rules...as for cutting into the cws, you have to understand the interest in the masses who just want to see manny hit a baseball again...i thought the visual was pretty cool seeing him in a minor league uniform in a minor league park...
Hey Steve was that you hacking your lungs out last night on SC
Steve Levy (5:45 PM)
john, glad to see you are paying such close attention to the show...yes that was me...been battling a pretty severe cough for a few days and got caught doing back to back highlights and i nearly made it through...i really wanted to get in the fact that it was the red sox 1st visit to dc since '71 when ted williams was managing the senators...thank you for your concern...feeling a little better today...gotta play hurt right !
Steve, I am an inspiring sports journalist...got any tips on how to make it in the business?
Steve Levy (5:47 PM)
yeah, first of all its "aspiring" although you may turn out to be an inspiration to us all...my tip...never turn down an assignment or opportunity regardless of how small of if you think its beneath you...never know where it will lead you or who you will meet and then impress...good luck...
Alex Orange Park FL
What should the Yankees do to beat the Red Sox? Come on we need to beat Boston at least once this year. Whats wrong with the Yankees right now?
Steve Levy (5:49 PM)
Everything alex ...almost feel sorry for the yanks and that's hard to do ...they are not often sympathetic figures ...they just seem out of sorts in every area ...very strange ...wonder if the gm can survive a non-playoff season ...
Carter Jacobs- Sterling Heights, MI
Are any anchors retiring this year?
Steve Levy (5:50 PM)
is that a hint ?
how do you take care of all those games????
Steve Levy (5:51 PM)
get alot of help from alot of talented, hard working young people..
J-Dog (Orlando, FL)
Hey Levy, how jealous are you of John Anderson hosting a hit TV show on ABC while all you get is to hang out with Melrose in the beautiful cities of Pittsburgh and Detroit?
Steve Levy (5:52 PM)
j-dog, i hadnt felt that way until you pointed it out...thanks...
Jeremy (Boston, MA)
Steve Levy...you are the best my friend, missing you on the morning SC reruns! Since you only anchor a few shows a week, what else do you work on to keep yourself busy?
Steve Levy (5:53 PM)
who put you up to that? i anchor more than a few shows a week...it just used to seem like more because they re-aired 10 times...in my spare time, i enjoy sleeping...i'm good at it...and it is a skill, alot of people cant do it...
Jeremy (Palm Beach Gardens, FL)
Steve, who would rather you leave the studio and return to doing play-by-play for the NHL more, yourself or John Anderson?
Steve Levy (5:55 PM)
i miss the nhl but i'd also miss anderson...close call there...
Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)
Hey Steve, I'm a huge Penguins fan and thank you for your great coverage of the Finals. Considering athletes and coaches personalitites, which is your favorite sport to cover?
Steve Levy (5:56 PM)
craig, its never been a secret, hockey is my first love and while they are great guys, there's not a whole lot of personality shown from the majority of the stars and that hurts the sport...thats why alex O. is so great for the game...
Steve who is the best player in the NHL?
Steve Levy (5:57 PM)
that's a trick question maryland !
Frankie (NY baby!)
Who do you think is the best player in the NBA? And is LeBron coming to the Knicks? Love you even though you're a BOSTON guy!!!
Steve Levy (5:58 PM)
frankie, kobe is the best player in the game and i do think one way or the other lebron winds up in new york...speaking of which, look it up, i'm a new york guy thru and thru, born, raised, educated, etc...
did i see you at vinny t's on boylston a month ago?
Steve Levy (5:59 PM)
Aaron (Grand Rapids, Mi)
Steve are you anticipating the new Megadeth album coming out in September at all? And I'd rather hang out with Melrose than John Anderson, any day.
Steve Levy (6:00 PM)
megadeth, that's a question for buccigross...i'm into country music these days...
have you played the punch out game for Wii? absolutely awesome.
Steve Levy (6:00 PM)
not much of a gamer...i used to play atari though...
Hey Steve it is my dream to become a sorts anchor, what is the hardest part of your job? And how do you become an anchor?
Steve Levy (6:03 PM)
hardest part...probably the hours...its just strange going to work when everyone else is home and going home when everyone else is sleeping, working weekends isnt ideal...that being said, i have the 2nd best job in the world after actually being a pro athlete...but for that you have to have some athletic talent and i missed out on that...as for becoming an anchor...it starts with a love for whatever you are broadcasting...
Trick question, its Ovechkin, Malak, or Crosby? 1 in 3 chance you are right!
Steve Levy (6:04 PM)
ok scott, i'll play...and guessing you are not going to like the answer...crosby beat ovechkin in that game 7 in d.c...sid gets my vote...
Cody (West Palm, FL)
What a day for you Levy, PTI is reporting it is Melrose's 1-year anniversary of the Tampa Bay hiring debacle! Emotional day?
Steve Levy (6:07 PM)
probably more emotional for barry...but not the emotion of sadness...with what's been going on with the franchise lately, he's probably laughing...amazing how fast a year goes by in your life...gotta jump peeps...thanks for your time, your well thought out questions and your patience with my answers...see you tonight around 11 pm eastern on sportscenter...provided the college kids in omaha finish up in 3 hours...
