Phoenix (Atlanta, GA)
The Guys on sports nation questioned which team would get in Dallas or New York but my money is on them Dirty Birds with out Matty Ice or The Burner most likely with tells you how over hyped the NFC east is!!!!! P.S. I might be a little bised LOL but am I REALLY wrong???
tony meeks (yankton,SD)
do you think Mike Holmgren should be the general manager of the 49ers and look over everyday operations for them?
mod (9:54 AM)
don't shoot the messenger folks, but Tiger talk is in 1st down...so are the Colts though, so a little something for everyone
Umor (Detroit)
Bummer about chris Henry, He was putting his life together and this happens.
joey (tx)
Best wishes to Chris Henry's family and Bengals.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Just heard Bengals Chris Henry died in a accident in Charlotte...Sad story...He seemed to be getting his life together
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Hope Mike Golic is right and Mike Greenberg is wrong about the game...Go Colts...
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Morning first take...a little over 10 hours until kickoff...Colts pregame starting soon
Shane (Iowa)
Vinnie is GONE!! Redskins fans re-joice!!!
BENGALBILL (cincy )
not such a good morning for bengals fans my prayers to chris henrys family for their loss
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
I cannot believe Chris Henry passed away. He seemed to be getting his life back together. Remember, sports is not everything. Do whatever you can to be a positive influence on loved ones, friends, and associates.
john (panama city bch, fl)
R.I,P, Cris Henry- thoughts and prayers go out for his family and friends. How heartbreaking, let's try to keep perspective on our fan-dom here.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sorry to hear the tragic news in Bengal town, Bengal Bill. My best to the Henry family today as well. So very sad.
Mike (Atlanta)
man, i heard about this last night and was just hoping and praying that he was going to be alright. really sad.
stacy (georgetown )
i am in shock he was a great wide out.
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
RIP Chris
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
WOW! Thoughts go out to the Henry family
lawrence (stowe vt)
Sad!
Henry (GA)
RIP Chris Henry. You will definitely be missed.
Ed (Bloom, PA)
Hard to imagine a story like Tiger should be in the same segment as Chris Henry passing away, my prayers go out to Chris' family and the Bengals
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Elin is leaving Tiger, which is a good thing for her to do. I support her decision but still want to see Tiger get his life back in order.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
RIP Chris Henry - its sad cause he just started to get his life together -cut short - I hope the same dont happen to me cause I'm on the turn around - Never know how many days you got - Damn!!!
Jimmy (Nashville, Tn.)
My prayers go out to the Henry family...tragic
john (panama city bch, fl)
Morning Mod and room.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
Please know Tiger talk man!!!
Mike (Atlanta)
bengals have gone through so much...it will be a miracle if they can play through another tragic loss.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Jason, just live everyday with passion. Never take things for granted.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
We have no choice. He's just been named sportman of the year!
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
I bet the 1st down topic has suddenly changed from tiger to Henry
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
I really hope Tiger responds positively and wrks to make sure his kids are OK.
joey (tx)
Tiger had to win the athlete of the year but Bolt should have won if he had done more before the Olympics.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Henry was the first down topic anyway. Peeped it out earlier.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Mod- can you get ELIN my phone number- I've always been good on the rebound.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Shane - Tiger was named athlete of the decade, not sportsman of the year
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
Can give a damn if Elin leaves Tiger or not. My thoughts and prayers are with the Henry family. Young people we are dying over issues that can be talked through like mature adults. Just SENSELESS.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER)) Nuff respect fan!!! thanks
Larry (Houston )
Morning folks....shame to hear how short life is for a guy who was TRULY turning it around.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
That makes two domestic issues in the past few weeks surrounding pro athletes. One ends up in a tragic death and the other a sad situation for a family with young children. I hope other athletes are out there re-evaluating their relationships today but I kind of doubt it.
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
Today i was feeling down for no reason what so ever and today it make you think that life is too short and never know whats going to happen. I really hope everyone have a Good Holiday
Larry (Houston )
AMEN dewayne (san deigo)
Umor (Detroit)
Love the sweater Dana.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
Don't even know what to say... Prayers are with his and his fiance's families. R.I.P. Chris Henry
john (panama city bch, fl)
Everybody, listen up- Jamele ALWAYS finds the best spin on a bad situation, that's why Skip loves her.
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
Let us not forget that Tiger is STILL the best golfer in th WORLD>
willie (topeka basement)
wow sympathy to the henry fam, he was turning his life around
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
What people fail to realize is that this was almost Tiger. If his accident was any more serious, he was already drifting in and out of consciousness.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Tiger dont deserve athlete of the decade and my opinion has nothing to do with the recent events.
mod (10:09 AM)
Skip argued that same thing yesterday Franc...he says it should be Tom Brady
joey (tx)
Go read Jemele's stuff about TIger, nothing positve there.
Brian (SoCal)
I wish to add my condolences to Chris henry's family in their time of loss. Also to the Bengals family that will miss him as well.
Mike (Atlanta)
well i dont know adam...Y E yang won more majors in 2009 than tiger.
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Wow. can't beleive Chris Henry died!
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
If not Tiger who? The closest would have been Federer but please no Brady. Kobe has more titles and he wasn't even close.
mod (10:11 AM)
Kobe's a good vote
mod (10:11 AM)
Federer should get it, no?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
It shoulda been Lance Armstrong and as for a team player Albert Pujols
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Dewayne: I think you hit this one on the head. Can be talked through by MATURE adults. Apparently the people involved in the latest incidents were lacking in the maturity category.
Umor (Detroit)
I said Brady yesterday, Now I'm thinking Federer He was no 1 most of the decade. Came in 1st or second in all his matches. I still say Brady.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Roger Federer was robbed, he won all his 15 majors this decade
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
Wheres Chad, Carson and Marvin I wanna hear what they've got to say and its interesting to see what kind of fire they play with this weekend (could be a spark or a dwindle)
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Tiger has accomplished more than Lance Armstrong.
Mike (Atlanta)
mod kobe didnt get one vote. I dont get that. He won 4 titles. Put up 81
Mark (Ann Arbor)
If you say Kobe, then Shaq and Duncan need to be thrown out there as well.
joey (tx)
Ya Duncan should be ahead of Kobe and dont get me started on that.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I'm going to give my daughter extra hugs at the Colts/Jags game tonight...cherish the family moments...don't take anything for granted
Demetric (Atlanta)
Dang....nothing this is sad for the Bengels
Mike (Atlanta)
everything else seems so trivial compared to this.
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
Mike, look at the world rakkings
john (panama city bch, fl)
Who is this man- Tom Brady??? We are a nation of..."what have you done for me, LATELY".
mendy (okla.)
Good morning First Take & gang long time no chat.
mike m (canton,oh)
i feel so bad for the henry family, its so sad to see someone with that much talent and potential have his life ended so prematurely,if anything good comes out of this tradegy is that other player and people period will learn that your life can be ended at any time and to live for today because tomorrow is never promised
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
I think the bengals will be very motivated this year!
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Kobe only won one title as a leader, so why should he be the best player in the decade? I respect Kobe's game, but he gave up against the Boston Celtics in Game 6.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Lance Armstrong dominated his sports more than anybody else with the SEVEN tour de France titles. And what Pujols has been doing has just been RIDICULOUS!
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Yes mod. He was just as dominant in his sport. Federer or Tiger. That's the toss up.
Brian (SoCal)
Even though the loss is tragic, hopefully the team will be able to support each other and focus their efforts to dedicate the season to Henry's memory.
Larry (Houston )
morning mendy
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
The Bengals have had a couple of deaths within their family. Sad stuff.
Bryan (TN)
Micheal Phelps or Lance Armstrong should've been athlete of the decade. Phelps was dominant in 2 Olympic games, and set tons of WR's, and Armstrong won 7 Tour de Frances, one of the toughest physical endurances in the world. Tiger's good and deserving, but those 2 were even better.
stacy (georgetown)
can i chat too mod?
mod (10:15 AM)
depends on what you're chatting about...we're talking Tiger, Colts, Chris Henry...
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
Kobe Who?
Mark (Ann Arbor)
The-Real_Fan great point. Kobe all mailed it in against Phoenix in game 7 in 2006. That is the game where he decided not to shoot the ball to make a point.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA) its called young and dumb passion gone terrible bad
oz (va. beach)
my prayers to the family of chris henry god bless
Larry (Houston )
i hate sayin it but it seems like its always something with the bengals. the luck of that franchise is sad, just hope they can pull 2gether one more time because this is lightning striking them twice
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
maybe this will FURTHER motivate the Bengals like in 01 when the Yankees went on their run and like this year when the Angels dedicated the whole season to Nick Adenhart
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
mod: and here we go
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Phelps only competes once every 4 years. He's not even in consideration.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Athlete of the Decade? Easy one - Brett Favre. ;-)
B. A. (Nashville, TN)
splitting hairs but L. Armstrong only won 6 in this decade.
john (panama city bch, fl)
W/B mendy, since you left you've been replaced with some MEAN folks...Mebbe Mod can scrap some of the hate for you :-)
mod (10:17 AM)
no idea what that means
stacy (georgetown)
is tiger playing golf next year mod?
mod (10:17 AM)
don't know, what do you guys think, when will he return?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Joe I dont know. ESPN put up a stat and Lebron has made more last second shots than Kobe.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I agree Shane, Phelps shouldnt get it, if an olympian were to get it, it should be Bolt
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Joe from Bloomington - I don't think a single person in the entire world doesn't think the Colts are for real.
Demetric (Atlanta)
I was going to blast the NFL about fining that Eagle player only 15,000 for punching a player but fine Ochocinco 30,000 for a sombrero
mendy (okla.)
Brady is low on the list. there are too just too many others that has done more on a yearly basis
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Mod is the athlete of the decade
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
John Daly is the athlete of the decade. Hands down.
jay (10:18 AM)
awful about chris henry. he was trying!
mod (10:18 AM)
Joel is clearly conflicted- pitting me against John Daly
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
The real worth of a basketball or football player lies in the skill of the team....
jay (10:18 AM)
i spoke to him in june and for the first time i remember thinking, this guy finally gets it. sad.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
This story can't help but tug at your heart.. It's so sad to hear, especially because he was making the most of his second chance.. and believe it or not he is an inspiration for anyone who wants to change their life.
mendy (okla.)
Thanks larry been on vacation...michigan what a place
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
If OchoCinco celebrates a TD this Sunday, he is probably going to wear a Chris Henry jersey underneath. Then, Ocho will salute it in the air.
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
John Daly passed out at a Hooters. Can you compete with that Mod?
mod (10:20 AM)
I'll give it a shot this weekend so I can get it in before the decade's out
Umor (Detroit)
Thaanks for reshow part of the Chris henry interview. At the time I thought that was lip service. But he did turn it around from what I saw and heard about him.
Larry (Houston )
espn should start a 'office pool' on when tiger comes back...everyone pick a date on the schedule and when tiger shows up the winner gets the pot
Brian (SoCal)
If the divorce is a sure thing now as reported, I would guess he will come back sooner than if he were making more of an attempt to save his marriage.
mendy (okla.)
Joel i'm certainly laughin right now.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
As soon as the divorce is final, mod. He's going to need something to keep him busy...aside from women that is.
mod (10:20 AM)
I agree, a divorce gets him back to golf sooner
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Tiger will play Arnold's tournament at Bay Hill and then The Masters, I believe
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Joel that is a joke right?
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Who is the best anchor of the decade?
Mike (Atlanta)
of course he will return...tiger is a competitor he wants the all time major record. Won't stop till he gets it.
joey (tx)
He is getting a divorce so he needs to go win to make up for his lost income.
mod (10:21 AM)
he could stand to lose half a Billion bucks...
stacy (georgetown)
i think next summer am i right guys?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
jason: OK but Tiger is in his 30s. Henry was 25. At what point can we stop using the 'young and dumb' excuse?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Real Fan Ocho's wheels are already spinning.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
and if goodell fines him... he is heartless
Larry (Houston )
michigan is awesome mendy...thas where dana's from (shameless shout out)
Demetric (Atlanta)
Jay, I just hope its was an accident, it would be horrible if charges were flied against the person he thanked for changing his life
Bryan (TN)
Phelps competed between the Olympics and before his first Olympic games. The reason most people never hears of it is because swimming doesn't get coverage on ESPN. He was the most dominant in his sport, and only finished 2 once, and it was part of a relay team.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
MOD - He should return - I mean there might be some meatball paparazzi's out there on the course and sinikle hecklers but no matter when he comes back he's gonna have to deal with it anyways
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Did Martin Brodeour get any votes?
Umor (Detroit)
Morning Jay.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
I am very dissapointed in espn not covering the new coach of the bearcats news conference the way they did notre shame hiring brian kelly. a losr team gets great coverage and the # 3 team gets dissed
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Adam so true. Which makes Irvin's statement of trading in the rings for an undefeated season even more credible.
willie (topeka basement)
i agree jay. i was just wondering also if maybe the broken arm played a part in his injuries seeng he cldnt fully protect his fall. but he was doing so good. tragic
Joe (Philly)
Tiger Woods has done more for Golf then Armstrong and Phelps have done for their sports. Weather you like him or not Tiger Woods is the reason people now watch Golf when he plays people watch when he doesn't people don't.
mod (10:24 AM)
Bengalbill, you gotta see the forest through the trees...breaking news going on today, changes the thought process of going to a Bearcats press conference that you can show clips of later
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
i undersatnd she mad but why is elin trying to file in cal so she can get more money
Mark (Ann Arbor)
The best thing that can happen to Tiger is to get back to golf. The sooner he wins the sooner this gets pushed to the back burner.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Best anchor of the decade is Ron Burgundy
Larry (Houston )
scott van pelt....anchor of the decade
Umor (Detroit)
It'll be Years before that divorce is final. Better to work it out now.
willie (topeka basement)
didnt he just up his prenup?
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER)) The whole team should wear Chris Henry's Number for one game like baseball did with the 42 - what do you think MOD???
jay (10:25 AM)
morning umor! morning all!
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Best anchor of the decade - The dude on the Cleveland local news show that yelled "Cavs win!" when LeBron made the shot to win in the playoffs.
mod (10:26 AM)
can't do it in football...you can do it in baseball b/c umpires don't have to worry about who's an eligible receiver, who is holding whom...no shot in football
jay (10:26 AM)
stellar moment!
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
Ron Burgendy.. hands down
mendy (okla.)
Tiger can't stay away from the game he'll be back sooner than people probably think.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
mod, do you have game on the basketball court?
mod (10:26 AM)
as far as you know....
mike m (canton,oh)
hopefully the nfl will have a moment of silence just out of respect at tonights and this weekends games for chris
Brett (Boise)
A team sport athlete will never win Athlete of the Decade. It's too difficult to stand out in the crowd. One person doesn't win a team game.
stacy (georgetown)
i think they should mod!!!!!!!
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
You can't wear the same number in football. Too many rules dictate you can't. You could illegally sub people in and out that way.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Agreed Larry(houston)
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
No I'd say the best thing that can happen to Tiger is self control
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
You're right Joe (philly) but the SAME exact argument can be made for Armstrong and the Tour de France. When he closed in on the record more ppl watched, then he retires and the ratings are in the toilet
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
If you file for divorce in California, you get half. Not the case in Florida.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
mod that was yesterday for the press conference
mod (10:27 AM)
woops- proceed with your whining then
mendy (okla.)
My better half is from there. Went to meet the parents...a little scary but survived... larry are the longhorns gonna bring the B-12 a win???
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA) DUDE I'm talking about Henry not Tiger - Thats a 30 year old man!! - thats old and dumb
Larry (Houston )
why was micheal 420 phelps even in the conversation.
Umor (Detroit)
Mendy been to our great lakes and got some of our fudge.
stacy (georgetown)
my favorite anchor on espn first take is dana jacobson what do you think guys?
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
She won't get half of Tiger's money. The Prenup and Tiger's fancy lawyers will not let that happen.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
who ever said Michigan was awesome, but have been drinking the entire time they were here!
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Anchor of the decade has to be Kenny Mayne. He is hilarious!
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
thanks i will
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
If Tiger wins two majors next year, all we will be talking about is how great tiger is.
Mike (Atlanta)
so the OKC thunder lost by 14 last night. And the wizards lost there 6th game in a row. In those 6 games they lost by a COMBINED 14 points. what is a wizards fan to do
Joe (bloomington,ind)
hey Jay whats the pen drop total today?
joey (tx)
Tiger hasnt done more for golf than Lance Armstrong has done for his. I knew about golf before Tiger and I had no idea what the Tour de France was before Lance.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jags are a tough team for the Colts...Colts need to knock them out of the playoffs so they don't lose and them face them later...
stacy (georgetown)
hey jay how are you?i am sorry for how i acted yestrday,do you forgive me?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Tiger should hire Elin to be his caddy. At least he wouldn't feel so bad just handing money over to her.
Larry (Houston )
howdy COLT CRAWFORD...or are ya still goin by that?
Bryan (TN)
Joe, Tiger did do alot, but so did Armstrong and Phelps. The number of people that tuned into the Olympics and the Tour de France went up here in the U.S. because of what those two were doing. Once again, television coverage in the U.S. is a major reason they don't get much attention.
Brian (SoCal)
don't think they could all wear the number due to issues with eligiblity but they could all wear his name on the back of their jerseys in tribute.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
you all had no problem showing the baseball news conference and it aaint even baseball season
mod (10:30 AM)
who else cared to watch the Bearcats new coach news conference on national television yesterday and do they think hiring a no name coach is the same as ND hiring the national coach of the year?
Mark (Ann Arbor)
jason - its a nice gester but you can't have an entire football team wearing one number. They will probalby wear a patch on their jersey or helmet for the rest of the year.
Bryan (TN)
Nobody can really use the pot argument with Phelps. He never tested positive for anything during competition, and even if he was smoking during the Olympics, give him a bonus medal, because if he was high, then he was slower than what he could actually go
joey (bloomington,tx)
Anybody watch the Cavs? Why is Lebron the only one who can kick the ball down, pick it up, dribble and take 2 more steps and than shoot?
Joe (Philly)
If Tiger Woods is getting divorced then he will be back sooner then he had planned. This divorce could get ugly quick and he may need the $ after the whole thing is said and done.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
There are actuallly wizards fans out there?
john (panama city bch, fl)
EZ Mod, BENGALBILL gets a little more sensitive treatment today- (not bein funny)
Roller (Kentucky)
Jags win tonite......sorry Colts fans!
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
No one should be surprised by the divorce. I do not think trust can be restored with so many allegations. It is hard to say once a cheater always a cheater. Elin might forgive, but she will never forget!
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
Im sorry Achorman is the most overrated movie i ever seen!!!!
stacy (georgetown)
or can i say jay crawford?
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Team of Decade- Lakers!!!
Larry (Houston )
ill go one betta mendy...texas is bringin home the nat'l championship
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
ok but they live in florida
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
BengalBill: Maybe if Cincy had an exclusive TV and BCS contract the press conference would have gotten better coverage.
Brian (SoCal)
If there is a valid prenup, it doesn't matter where you file. The terms of the contract must be met.
mod (10:33 AM)
you guys acting like you know the various state laws about divorce settlements is really quite a mess...they have houses and live in places in addition to Florida, prenup's are easier to legally break in California, and a whole lot of other legal variables we all don't know about...
Joe (bloomington,ind)
here kitty, kitty. here kitty, kitty! Peyton is a comin
Mike (Atlanta)
only person thats going to stop peyton manning from playing...is peyton manning
Umor (Detroit)
Tiger got more younger and casual viewers to watch golf. Phil Mickelson crazy shots didn't do that.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
It's funny how the colts every year have the issue of "resting their starters".. yet they only have one superbowl, and that year they didn't rest anyone because they only got the #3 seed.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
joey (tx) Dude!! your really gonna compare the tour de france (which is one event) to the PGA (which has multiple events and 4 Major?) REALLY???
mod (10:34 AM)
my favorite Saturday Night Live skit is the 'Really?' skits...
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Joey- Thats because, Golf is much more popular the bicycling!
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Bengalbill - It's because nobody cares about Cincinnnati college football.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Tiger should hire me to be his caddy...Hopefully He still lets me chat once in a while
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
During the decade, what player has Skip hated on the most?LeBron, T.O., or Ocho
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Out of all the advice Tiger could have gotten she shoulda looked at Jeter and never got married. Look. Jeter is in NY and he never gets any bad press
Brian (SoCal)
The difference between Tiger and Lance is that since Lance left, the tour de france has fallen off the earth again.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jason: I mentioned Henry. He was 25 going on 26. He should have been more mature by that point in his life.
Mike (Atlanta)
Colts win big...
Roller (Kentucky)
Pleeeeeeeeeze more Tiger talk......ha, can't get enough.
Trevor (Deland, Fl)
Jags got the colts number, and that number is 18
joey (tx)
Ya what did Central Michigan ever do to the Bearcats? Talk about Brian Kelly being a punk for leaving you keep stealing there coaches.
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Tiger will be back by the Masters.... I hope so.
Brian (SoCal)
Colts keep winning, they will put the jags down.
Joe (Philly)
I'm not saying that Phelps and Armstrong haven't done alot for their sports because they have. But Tiger is the reason more people are not only watching but learning about and playing Golf
Umor (Detroit)
I saw Superman came out to play last night. Just throw the ball up and let Dwight throw it down.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
NO WONDER Phelps was taking in so many calories a day
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
wow I guess bearcats fans are irrelavant in espn's eyes
Andrew (Ruther Glen, VA)
Joey- Philly- Tiger woods doesn't need money! LOL
stacy (georgetown)
they need to put a sticker on everyones helmet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lawrence (stowe vt)
Joey it is called a crab dribble...
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
Mark (Ann Arbor) I know it's just thinking WAY!!! out the box there
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
joel I have an entire city that would beg to differ how many people are from stanwood 6
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
as for favorite espn anchors i always respect for the women because it was and still cool to shown women knowing sports!!
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
When a billion dollars is involved, rules are sometimes stretched a little
Joe (bloomington,ind)
jason007thomas, really ur even talking about the tour de france?
joey (tx)
good point Brian form SoCal
Umor (Detroit)
Mod..Really those skits ...Really.
mike m (canton,oh)
i wonder how pat white and steve slaton are taking the chris henry news, its not just a sad day for bengal fans its a sad day for mountainer fans too
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Mark (ann arbor) I dont even think Wizards players are fans of the Wizards
joey (tx)
Oh YA didnt I just compare it?
mendy (okla.)
Larry that's what i was talkin about. It should be a great game.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I look forward to Peyton throwing 3 TD's tonight and me talking smack to Skip tomorrow...
stacy (georgetown)
my team of the last 10 years would be the dallas cowboys what you guys think and jay are you going to say hey to me or not say hi to me?
mod (10:39 AM)
Really Stacy?!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
If people cared about Cincinnati, they may be playing for the BCS title. Just saying.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Larry- you've got to go through a little team called ALABAMA. Good Luck to ya- may the best team win, but remember- there's a reason WHY they play the game!!!
Umor (Detroit)
Why can't Central Michigan keep their coaches. If I want a bigger Coaching job I'll be there coach.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
its the NBA. they dont call traveling on Lebron
mike m (canton,oh)
i think the colts will play most of their starters and win,im sure they would like to run the table and go undefeated through the superbowl just to say hey pats we did what you couldnt
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
People keep posting comments using my name and city. Knock it off.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Best SNL Skits: Dr. Jack Badolfski during the Weekend Update segment and the other Weekend Update segment starring Tim Kazurinsky where he played a yogi of some sort. Hey, I grew up in the 80s. What can I say?
joey (tx)
Ya what about all that Livestrong Lance has done for cancer? And ya I compared Tour de France to golf. Cant you read?
mod (10:41 AM)
who cares about his Livestrong campaign we're simply voting for best athlete of the decade... not a humanitarian award here...
Demetric (Atlanta)
Mod, the question about tonights game is, does Manning want; undefeated season, possible stats to add for his 4th MVP case or rest for the playoffs.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA) come on man your really gonna sit up here and criticize a man that just did like an hour ago come on man!!!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Brian Kelly and Butch Jones had one thing in common, they both had Dan LeFevour. Best college quarterback nobody knows about. He made their jobs much easier
Roller (Kentucky)
33-27 Jags!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Bengalbill - Yes, nobody cares about Cincinnati football.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
ya J.B., real appropriate time to cast judgement...
mod (10:43 AM)
just so no one thinks I'm piling on Bengalbill...I say Cincy beats the Gators and gets some much deserved respect nationally...still, they hired a no name coach and no one cares at this moment
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I think Stan from the Eminem song is in the chat... hmmm
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Bengalbill - I agree with you. Nobody cares about Seattle sports (I live nex to seattle), but you don't see me whining about it.
mendy (okla.)
caddy mike i hear ya... colts make some history this year.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Mod can we do a vote for most annoying person in the chat for the year?
mod (10:43 AM)
no you may not
Jason (Charlottesville)
LOL at Jamell. "This is the best thing that could happen for Tiger"... Who cares about his wife and kids and family, get that divorce out of the way and now Tiger can go on and get back on the golf course to please the rest of us. Only in America
Umor (Detroit)
Jemele Divorce not a good thing. If it can't be help OK. But be honest and try to work it out with your mate.
Joshua (Rome, Ga)
With the hiring of Brian Kelly, what would be the best thing for Notre Dame to do about the offense? Maybe, fire the Def Coor? I would!
Charles (Dayton, Ohio)
I just want to say on a sad note that my thoughts prayers are with Chris Henry's family. He was finally getting his life in order and understanding whats important. Thats why we should live everday like our last
stacy (georgetown)
mod are we going to tell each other our christmas presents in chat ?
mod (10:44 AM)
nope- but I'm sure there's a chat out there where thats appropriate
Larry (Houston )
yeah i cant wait mendy...u got tickets?
Roller (Kentucky)
Sorry, Jamele but that is stuuuuuuuuuuuupid!
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
Joe (bloomington, ind) ha ha!!! tour de france really!!
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Joey you must not have seen Kobe's shot to put the lakers up in ot last night. He traveled and ran Bogut over and Bogut got the foul.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Difference between Tiger and Lance is Lance left his wife for only one woman.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Are those 'Really' skits something that has been on in the last 10 years because I haven't watched SNL regularly since the 90s.
mod (10:45 AM)
past 5 years or so...
Peyton Manning (Indy)
What do you think should i go for 16-0?
Larry (Houston )
yeh yeh john(panama city)...just like in 05 yall said that USC was gonna beat texas...bama's good but all they have is ingrahm
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
umor same reason cincy loses coached bigger pay day the farther up the ladder you climb
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al.)
MOD - I think everybody should post some really's today
Bryan (TN)
Jason, I would say the Tour de France is a bigger deal. Its about 2200 mi in 20 stages over 22 days. It is more physically demanding event compared to a year of golf.
Roller (Kentucky)
I get sick of hearing friggin Oprah, go on ESPN and talk to the sports folks!!!!!!!!!!!!
john (panama city bch, fl)
Does anybody REALLY care where Tiger keeps his driver,(putter) anymore?
Joe (bloomington,ind)
stacy(georgetown) life long cowboys fan here, and not even in the conversation
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea, playing 18 holes in ANY golf course is a lot easier to play and finish than a Tour de France
Umor (Detroit)
More like 21-17 Colts.
Brian (SoCal)
Well we do care about the LiveStrong campaign but I agree that is not relevant to this vote.
mendy (okla.)
maybe tiger can take some pointers from daly....
Umor (Detroit)
The SNL Bill Clinton Skits. Sorry Tiger, I love them.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
They don't call it on Kobe either. See last night's highlights or charges for that matter.
Joe (bloomington,ind)
joey(tx), r u watching fox sports?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Tiger can sit down with somebody like Mike Tirico who is a true professional and knows Tiger well from covering Golf Tournaments
Roller (Kentucky)
Yeah, sorry for Elin.....don't forget she didn't do anything to him, he's the punk in this situation.
mendy (okla.)
Larry my better half is working on it...knowing him we'll be there...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jason: Yeah I know, poor move on my part but I hate to see people die unnecessarily. I told you guys before I have opinions, am not afraid to express them, and often get in trouble for it.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
the divorce may be the best thing for the KIDS! THE KIDS should be the biggest interest here. I wish my parents woulda just divorced instead of trying to work it out
john (panama city bch, fl)
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for most annoying. Don't think i am, but i REALLY dig winnnng awards.
Brian (SoCal)
Why are we talking about this hypothetical situation. It is pure speculation.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Good point on the humanitarian thing, mod. If it were based on things outside the field of competition we might have to mention Armstrong leaving the woman who was with him through his battle with cancer then.
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
awww his wife is getting pay she will be fine
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
alright im done ranting this morning
mike m (canton,oh)
after the tiger divorce is final i think it will hurt not help tiger, think about how the tabloids will link him to all kind of famous women if its true or not just because of his past
Mark (Ann Arbor)
lets be realistic here. Armstrong has been accused of cheating and steroids. yeah it was never proven but it's out there and a lot of people believe he did.
joey (tx)
They talked about what Tiger has done for his sports, that has to do with Lance sport. How did you become MOD if you didnt know that?
mod (10:50 AM)
they talk about what Tiger has done for his sport with his performance ON THE GOLF COURSE- totall different context that your charitbable endeavors...if that were the case, Andre Agassi would get athlete of the decade with all the schools he has funded, etc.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
we dont know if elin drove him away roller just sayin
Bryan (TN)
Bama's got a great defense, and McElroy has shown he can be pretty accurate and can make a big throw. Bama will run over Texas, just like the SEC's done the past few years.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I found 'Mad TV' to be much funnier than 'SNL,' when both were on the air.
Roller (Kentucky)
My favorite SNL skits are any of them involving Sandler or W. Ferrell.
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
TO:MOD....Doe you think linking Tiger to PED"S is a stretch ?
mod (10:52 AM)
not a stretch at all, every athlete stands a chance to be accused because there are no all emcompassing tests, especially in golf...if they don't want to be linked, then go down the hall and fill this cup
joey (tx)
What team has been talked about the most is Dallas and the Yankess but I agree they arent the best this decade. Now 90's they ruled.
Umor (Detroit)
Man I hope Tiger didn't use PEDs That would kill golf for me if did. No I'll still watch. But it would ruin his legacy and this period in golf.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Again- Good Luck, Larry...We'll see. I just hope that they play to their potential so that BOTH come off looking good!
joey (tx)
I am a Texas fan they have more than Ingram. I mean his backup is better than him.
Roller (Kentucky)
All 'Bama has is Ingram? Watched that "D" lately??????????
Jermaine (Charlotte)
Tiger paid the price for his mistakes, now leave him the hell alone.
Joe (bloomington,ind)
hey Peyton, no on the 16-0, as a colts fan i want u 3-0 in the playoffs
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Tiger's legacy will be alright. When people think of JFK and MLK jr. they don't think of their infidelity.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Not 16-0 Peyton...19-0....see you for 14-0 tonight!
stacy (georgetown)
i think that the colts will finish 18-0 what you think mod, jay or dana?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I think I'd get my share of votes for most annoying too, John.
Jonathan (ATL)
I don't know too many women who would stay with their man if he cheated on them with multiple women over a long period of time. While tragic, Tiger getting divorced is best for both of them. Now the media circus can come to an end, he can get on with his life and she can get on with hers.
mendy (okla.)
I agree roller...and she needs to sock it to him and move on....there can be no trust there again.
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Celebrity Jeopardy is EASILY the best SNL skit!
Joe (Philly)
Do you feel better now BengalBill?
john (panama city bch, fl)
S Ok, BILL- We get it.
stacy (georgetown)
joe in bloomgtion sorry for last weekend when uk killed you guys and you have my thoughts and prayers are with you during this indiana cricis!!!!!!!!!!
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
Strong words Roller
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Shane - Don't get me started on the Kobe Charge-Travel-Offensive fould that turned into a 3 point play that propelled the Lakers to a win last night. Another perfect instance of me thinking did that Official bet on the Lakers last night!
Larry (Houston )
lol good guy ya got mendy(okla)...im takin my lil girl its gonna be her 1st longhorn game
john (panama city bch, fl)
SNL CLASSIC- Chevy Chase..."I'm Chevy Chase- and you're NOT"-oh and, "General Francisco Franco is STILL dead"...
mendy (okla.)
Bryan i beg to differ...now if TX plays like they did agaist Neb...yeah..but they bring their game, bama will go down w/ a thug.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
the new snl sucks not as good as it was with akroyd, belushi, murphy , chaase ect
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Yes it is a big stretch. The doctor is famous and I'm pretty sure the list of athletes he has treated is long but since Tiger is the news right now his name is on front and center.
Jonathan (ATL)
I heard Irvin's comments on NFL Gameday about him trading his 3 SB rings for 1 undefeated season. I thought he was crazy and Deion, sitting next to him, was two seconds from calling him that.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Also "SHAME ON YOU BILL PLASKEY" for that garbage aritcle you wrote about supecting Tiger of all these years of HGH. Its a good thing you wrote that online, cause I would hate for a tree to be cut down only to be printed with that garbage!
stacy (georgetown)
love that sweater dana!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roller (Kentucky)
This kid is a very good player.
Bryan (TN)
Mark in Ann Arbor, pretty much anyone dominant in their sport is accused of cheating at one point or another. They are innocent until proven guilty, and Lance has never tested positive for anything, and they drug tested him more than anyone else after his 3rd straight Tour win
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I'm going to inject myself with some Colts Blue Moon beer tonight...then I'll try that platelets thing tomorrow
john (panama city bch, fl)
Personally, i think Lance helped GOLF,too. Every time the Tour came on, i changed channels!!
Joe (bloomington,ind)
thanx stacy, i feel ur pain to!
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
John Wall > Xavier Henry
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Yes, Jonathan, and if parents work together, the children do not need to suffer...am speaking from experience
lawrence (stowe vt)
Chris Farley motvational speaker favorite snl skit
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Stacy, I think the Jags have a good shot of beating the Colts tonight. They will not go undefeated to the Super Bowl, the Chargers will take them down again.
Jonathan (ATL)
Prediction: there will be no undefeated team this year. I think that an undefeated team will make it to the SB but will suffer the same fate as the Patriots. After that, we can put this whole "pursuit of perfection" garbage to bed. What matters is not going undefeated but winning the SB period.
Joe (Philly)
This might be the first time we see 2 undefeated teams in the Superbowl. What a match up that would be Saints and the Colts undefeated.
Adam (Greensboro, NC)
TO MOD: My question is simply.....why do media types bring up things that are not issues ?
mod (10:57 AM)
what non issue are you talking about?
Joe (Philly)
This might be the first time we see 2 undefeated teams in the Superbowl. What a match up that would be Saints and the Colts undefeated.
Joe (bloomington,ind)
when we r discussing TOD. dallas, yankees they r not teams they r financial institutions
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
No problem with Tiger or Fedrerer as Athlete of the Decade...In individual sports, they and Armstrong were the best
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Johnathan. Cookie stayed with Magic.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
18-0 is not good enough.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Another classic SNL skit: Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood. Laugh out loud funny every time.
Roller (Kentucky)
Hey, I'm only saying I feel sorry for Elin.
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
SNL is just fine........Jason Sudeikis sucking on Efron's foot was great moment in TV history!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan (ATL): Don't expect that media circus to end that quickly.
Umor (Detroit)
Tex better not play like they did against Neb. Bama will kill them. They better get the ball out of McCoy hands fast. 3 step drops and gun it.
Jonathan (ATL)
I saw on SportsCenter this morning that there's a bowl game with a 6-6 team (I think N. Illinois) in it. What in the name of Bear Bryant are things coming to when you have mediocre to bad teams playing in bowls games?! There use to be a time when being invited to a bowl meant something. Nowadays the only bowls that are meaningful are the BCS.....and they find ways to screw those up.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Think of it this way. An undefeated team gets the ring and the spot in the HOF and he would be better than MErcury Morris. Yeah I would love to be iundefeated for an entire season.
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Lawrence - IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
An undefeated season is not overrated. The 72 Dolphins enjoy a record that can only be tied. When there are no more undefeated teams in a season, they can celebrate like they were still playing.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
SNL now isnt even as good as farrell, sandler, farley, spade...
Chris (Tampa)
Cant compare any SNL's to that group BengalBill
john (panama city bch, fl)
Back off J.B.- my fiercest competitor is stacy...if YOU jump in, there's gonna be some mud-slinging!!
Brian (SoCal)
Schlereth also said he would trade 2 or his 3 SB ring for a perfect season. These guys know what being on that team would mean to them to be part of the BEST team ever.
Jonathan (ATL)
JB, very true but it will end much sooner with the pending divorce than if he was still married.
mike m (canton,oh)
id love to see saints colts undefeated sb just so the 72 phins will shut up for good
Roller (Kentucky)
Am I the only on sick of the Progressive commercials?
Bryan (TN)
Sorry mendy, but I think its going to be a Bama blowout, even Texas' best game doesn't compare to the SEC. I think the the natl championship is going to be a big let down, and that the Boise St. TCU game will be better.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Gee a star NBA player got away with a travel? Quick, alert the press!
Hayden (Logan,UT)
We need Demetir to debate Dana
mendy (okla.)
Joe that would be sweet in sooooo many ways
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I LIVE IN A VAN... DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!
Joe (bloomington,ind)
dont make me start the Saints conspiracy theory, I will
lawrence (stowe vt)
That made me laugh...thanks Joel!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
The only reason i want the Colts or Saints to go undefeated is so Mercury Morris will never be seen or heard from again. I want to see him cry on national TV
Charles (Dayton, Ohio)
Until Tigers performance recently in the Masters with stress fractures etc didnt even consider Golf a true sport but you have to at least be able to walk which he was barely able to do and still dominate his sport is an amazing feat in its self. So yes as much we are all in his personal business we cannot take a way from the fact he is the Most Dominant Athlete of not only the decade but maybe of all time. And Tiger is one of the most mentally tough athletes ever as well, I really dont think once he goes back anything will affect his golf in fact it may make him even more focused and dominant becuase it will be his escape......
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
'JOE PISCOPO LIVE, SATURDAY NIGHT SPORTS!' I think anyone here old enough to remember that will agree that it was pure gold.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Progressive needs to get rid of that girl and hire Dana...she's a progressive gal
john (panama city bch, fl)
Speaking of Saints conspiracy...where's our favorite "foaming at the mouth" fan, Nikki? (And her minion, Selena)
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
is there a Hayden imposter? How cute
Jonathan (ATL)
Mark, you'll be trading Mercury Morris for someone else from either the Colts or Saints if they went undefeated. But no worries, because there will be no undefeated teams this year.
Larry (Houston )
Bryan (tn) step away from the pipe...bama isnt gonna blow anybody out. texas can match up with alabama, even outmatch them...arenas has NO ANSWER for shipley
john (panama city bch, fl)
Franc- does your VAN have a basement? Otherwise, where are you chatting from?
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
the more mercury morris talks, the more he seems like a former mascot than a former player
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Agree Jonathan...Bowls used to require 9 or 10 wins...Am happy my daughter who is a senior at FSU gets to see Coach Bowden go out with a win here in the Gator bowl, but they don't deserve to go
Umor (Detroit)
Joe you tired of mercy morris rapping too. I hope they both reach the superbowl undefeated.
Brian (SoCal)
Will Ingram be able to overcome the "heisman jinx". no winner has won title game since Leinart over Oklahoma.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Mark, for once we agree, Mercury Morris is a joke
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Good point J.B. NBA officiating has lost ALL credibility
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Lawrence: Good call on the Farley, "Matt Foley" bit. I have the best of Farley DVD and laugh at that every time.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
john: I don't want to be part of that group. I'm just saying I'd bet several people here would include me among the most annoying.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
We may all be Bengal fans on sunday..
Mark (Ann Arbor)
If the Progressive executives were going for the creapiest looking girl possible they succeeded
Umor (Detroit)
Teams come together in these tragic times. I hope the Bengals get stronger And care about eachother.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan (ATL): There are at least one half dozen 6-6 teams in bowls including one playing on New Year's Day and two playing each other. With 34 games, you need those teams just to fill them all out.
Roller (Kentucky)
The guys that played on the 72 Dolphins are a little annoying about the record.....don't get me wrong it's a great record but records are broken and this one will be broken someday so chill out!
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Deaths during the holidays are always tough.Every time you should be happy and celebrating your thoughts always travel to the people that aren't there. I lost my uncle before Thanksgiving this year and my grandmother the year before and Thanksgiving just hasn't been the same.
Joe (bloomington,ind)
Mercury Morris? isnt that y we have mute buttons?
Jonathan (ATL)
Tragic what happen to Henry. Kordell is right.....the Bengals will play harder in memory of Henry. I feel sorry for the opponents on their schedule.
Brian (SoCal)
A van IS a basement.
mendy (okla.)
i certainly feel for the henry fam. loss sucks and is one reason we went to michigan the last several days. i had to get out of here for awhile. lost 10 people in the last 8 months between the ages 27 to 37.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
"among the most annoying", you don't give yourself enough credit
mike m (canton,oh)
i know what you mean shane reid i lost my gpa who was more like a father to me before xmas 5 years ago and now its just a reminder of what happened and that hes no longer here
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I hope somedody goes 19-0 and not just because the Dolphins are not the best team ever and would have been beaten by the 85 Bears and any number of Steelers, Cowboys, and 49ers teams
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Let the Colts or Saints go unbeaten some other year. This year it's time for the Vikings to finally get the Super Bowl rings.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea but EVEN IF someone goes 19-0 we would STILL have to hear Mercury Morris talk about how THEY were the 1st to go undefeated
Roller (Kentucky)
John (PCB)- be carefull.....I'm sure they will be here shouting about the Saints any time now! ha
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
You are going to be eating a steady diet of government cheese and living in a van down by the river!
Umor (Detroit)
Aww Love Flo in the progressive ads. Shes good in Madmen too.
Brian (SoCal)
But the point is you all remember her and know it was aprogressive insurance commercial. Q rating.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Thx Steven- wanna be my campaign mgr.? Don't matter if you're a newby, you just showed aptitude!!!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The Dolphins also only had to win 14 games for their perfect season. Still great but teams need five more wins to be perfect now.
Umor (Detroit)
Speaking of SNL skits. How about when they make fun of espn. Do y'all have a alien working on the set or not.
Demetric (Atlanta)
The NCAA should make a mandatory rule, that a minimum of 8 games should be required for Bowl games...I'm tired of the "Car Quest at Your Car.com, I mean we're really cheap good cars Bowl" game
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Franc - that is a good point about Mercury. i don't think anything will ever shut him up.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Demetir, dont try to be me
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Hayden (Logan,UT)We need Demetir to debate DanaI did not say
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I see I have Steven from Columbus' vote.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
and the 76 Raiders
Mike (Atlanta)
Um J.B they won 17 games not 14
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
People want to be me because I like men. Please stop.
mendy (okla.)
Bryan sec is not the big power house people make them out to be. B-12 brings it home this yr. If TX would have played last yr. they would have last yr. too.
Jonathan (ATL)
JB, very true though it makes for a blowout waiting to happen in those Bowl games. Who really cares (other than Alum) about S. Florida playing a sorry N. Illinois team in the International Bowl? I'm actually surprised that these bowls stay in business since they are a media or ratings draw.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
The bowl games now reflect a change in society where everybody's a winner and the loser gets awards and medals now.
Bryan (TN)
Larry, the way Texas played against Nebraska, they have no shot. Nebraska should've won that game and Texas shouldn't even be in this game. They had a WEAK schedule, and everyone said the same thing in the OK, FL game, and everyone remembered what happened, and this Bama team is even better.
john (panama city bch, fl)
I ain't scared Roller- i slipped the Mod a five spot to keep em in line!
THUMPA (Houston)
They should start the Bowl Season now.
Larry (Houston )
TELL EM mendy...who said the sec was the best confrence...they only have 4 teams in my eyes that are worth a crap
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Dana's pink is better than Skip's was yesterday
Jon R (Paducah ky)
Do think that UK will go to the final 4?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
any yoga today?
Demetric (Atlanta)
Hayden what the heck are you talking about; I can barely be myself enough as it is..
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Larry said crap
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Dana's Pink?
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
wow... little rude
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Bama put up a stinker against an Auburn team that wasn't that good. Let's not get carried away with one game. Nebraskas defense would survive in the SEC.
Jon R (Paducah ky)
Do think UK is a final 4 team?
Larry (Houston )
shouda...coulda...woulda brian (tn)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mike (ATL): Thanks for the correction. My bad.
oz (va. beach)
42 all u laker haters the guy was backing up when kobe was driving he wasnt set good call ref
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Good point Shane, it's an absolute joke that teams 6-6 are going to bowl games!
lawrence (stowe vt)
Fat guy in a little coat
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jon - that is a good point. How do bowl games like the international bowl make any money? Does anyone in Canada really care about South Florida and NIU?
Mike (Atlanta)
a five spot? mod is cheap huh
Roller (Kentucky)
Of course UK will be in the final 4......are you serious?!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan (ATL): A lot of those bowls do go under after a few short years but as long as corporations are willing to take a chance on sponsorship, you will get bowl games between mediocre teams being played in less than ideal locations. I mean who truly wants to play a bowl game in the Bronx in December?
john (panama city bch, fl)
No offense, but i would have rather stayed with the "feel-good" story. R.I.P. Chris.
Larry (Houston )
see what yall are goin by sadly is STYLE POINTS!!! a win is a win no matter how clean or dirty...yeah tex/neb was a bad game but who won>?
Roller (Kentucky)
I've said for a long time that 6-6 teams should not get a bowl bid, just a way of having another bowl game.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
still in shock about Henry, and tiger being the athlete of the year
Umor (Detroit)
Hey bring back the kids.
Joel (Stanwood, WA)
Anything on Dana looks better than it would on Skip
Bryan (TN)
The SEC is actually able to consistently play defense, rather than what most other conferences do, which is the idea to simply have a shootout and hope your team is the one that scores the most. I love defensive style of play compared to flashy spread offenses, FL included, but at least FL could play some good D the past few years.
Brian (SoCal)
oz, I am a laker fan myself. Even james Worthy sadi that call was questionable on the post game show. Love kobe and lakers but We got away with one last night.
Joe (Philly)
Come on the mod might be cheap but the mod isn't easy or is that the mod is easy but not cheap?
THUMPA (Houston)
They could have transitioned the story a bit better. They cut those 2 kids off.
Umor (Detroit)
Skip shirt yesterday was causing techical tv probelms.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Oh JB, you are so wise
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The other thing about bowl season is you have two of the lesser bowls taking plays during the height of BCS bowl time. Who wants to watch the GMAC and International Bowl after all the big games aside from the BCS title game are over?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
I don't hate on Kobe but I like to point out to Lebron haters that he isn't the only one to get away with calls. If Bogut wasn't set so what he still traveled.
Jon R (Paducah ky)
hey i am a UK fan unlike all the freaking people who are on Duke and north caroline band wagon!!!!!!!
oz (va. beach)
j.b. ur rt piscopo, murphy era was best snl evr i dont watch now
Bryan (Philly)
Way to go First Take! Completely disrespectful to those two kids! ESPN has 5 networks and you basically shoot down that their father is important.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I see my friend Hayden is here. That would probably give me two votes for Most Annoying Poster.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I dont have a dog in this fight but Texas/Alabama is going to be no different than Oklahoma/Florida last year. It wont be a blow out but it wont be close either
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
little disappointed you put those kids on hold like that. They're going through a tough time as well. There will be sound bytes from this press conference for days. Don't take away a bright spot from those kids.
Brian (SoCal)
Gotta go sad that I will have to miss the story on those two kids.
Demetric (Atlanta)
8 games minimum for bowl games, I would perfer that over a playoff
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Roller, UK will be in final four...it's in INDY this year...a great sports down...you should go watch the finals...pick up a Colts 2010 Superbowl Champs hat and you will be popular with the ladies
Mark (Ann Arbor)
JB - i agree the last 2 years all these lesser bowls are scheduling their games after new years day. They are trying to make a name for themselves but when you have two 6-6 or 7-5 teams it's not going to work.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Hayden is the most annoying person; accusing innocent people of pretending to be him, whats up with that
Umor (Detroit)
Brian (SoCal) put a tape in the machine and hit record. I do that whem I have to leave and miss part of the show.
Matt (Chicago)
Did you really just interrupt two kids telling the story of their father for a press conference? I just lost a TON of respect for ESPN on that one. You should've waited to start with those kids until after the Bengals did their thing. That was a COMPLETE lack of repsect on your part.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
ND vs. FSU in the Toilet Bowl
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
umor do they even make vcrs any more
oz (va. beach)
jon r holla back when uk win it, 4 now unc reigns!
Jonathan (ATL)
Obviously it's all about the money in college football with the number of weak bowl games nowadays. I mean who wants to see the Humanitarian Bowl with Bowling Green vs. Idaho (other than Jay). Min. 9 wins to be eligible for a bowl appearance. At least we'll know we'll get a decent game out of it with quality teams.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
dead at 26....thats awful. parents should never have to bear the burden of out living their children. thoughts and prayers to the Henry family. and the Bengal family
Roller (Kentucky)
Cadd Mike- I would love to go to the final four........never been....I would probably buy an Eagles hat since they are gonna win it though. ha
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
The NCAA can have a playoff and still do their bowls... they can just make each playoff game a named bowl
Umor (Detroit)
Seeing those two boys reminded me of my Brothers being at my pops bedside when he was dying from cancer. He was more worried about us than anything else.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I use my vcr
Chris (Tampa)
But they cut off the press confrence for a commercial
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
ya espn, that was worth it... tell those kids that the people in the chat got their back
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Then again if you only had these BCS bowl games then you would really be shutting out the few programs that do deserve to play in some type of bowl and eaarn some money for their school.
THUMPA (Houston)
Now that the press conference is over, ANYONE FEEL UPLIFTED?
Jonathan (ATL)
who would have thought that we would ever see USC playing in the Emerald Bowl against Boston College. The Emerald Bowl?!?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Notre Dame will be sponsoring its own bowl soon. It will be called "The Golden Domer Bowl" to be played in South Bend at 9:00 AM on New Year's Day. Their opponent will be the winner of the Ivy League.
Roller (Kentucky)
Did Henry's girlfriend just go off and leave him on the side of the road?
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jon - your right. They have watered down the bowl season so much from 20 years ago. It used to be a reward to go to a bowl game, now it's expected and part of the season. 8-9 win minimum to get to a bowl game. If they did that then the bowls would mean more.
Joe (Philly)
That was kind of pathetic on ESPN's part cutting off the kids like that
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Next year Frank, sponsored by Charmin
THUMPA (Houston)
The kids should unhook the mics and go on home. Any idea how many Families and Friends were watching to hear that story, just before the holidays? Yes, what happen to Chris Henry is awful. What happen to the two boys in that community will be reflected on and remembered as an "O.J." vs. ROCKETS cutaway! (For those who don't remember, it was a sad PICTURE IN PICTURE game where the Houston Rockets were playing and OJ and AL were doing the same.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I admit, I am pretty annoying, sorry demetric, my imposter said you should debata dana, thought it was you
mendy (okla.)
Franc OK didn't need to be in that game..it should of been TX. Fl. wouldn't have come out so sweet if they had been playing the right team
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'd like to see one less regular season game and seven wins minimum to qualify for a bowl. I think 7-4 is worthy of a trip to Mobile, AL in December.
Chad (Boston)
I cannot believe you all cut off the two young men from Texas who just lost their dad to talk about Chris Henry's death, EMBARRASSING ESPN, wow
Larry (Houston )
yeah roller...im wondering if they gonna file charges on the girlfriend?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Roller, you should go...Conseco fieldhouse is awesome and the College basketball hall of fame is there too
Matt (Chicago)
And then you cut away from the Bengals in mid sentence and cut right to commercial leaving the boys hanging. Wow, talk about a lack of compassion.
Demetric (Atlanta)
You guys cut the press confrence for a commercial but cut the story of the 2 young bowls early..but I guess the sponsors come first
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Face it, if it weren't for the office bowl polls we wouldn't care about most of the bowl games.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
JB i agree -but do you think Penn St or Michigan want to give up that one home game? When you put over 100,000 per game in a stadium that is major cash flow for the univerisity
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan (ATL): Give USC some credit. They actually have to travel more than seven miles to play in their bowl game this season. Nice of the system to keep them in Cali though and to find them an opponent coming from clear across the U.S. to play them.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I will try to watch every bowl
john (panama city bch, fl)
Instead of "terrible towels"- fans can wave plungers and brushes!!!
THUMPA (Houston)
I can see how any of us may react if WE were contacted by ESPN and told WE were going to be interviewed...HOW FAST WOULD YOUR "BUDDY LIST" be getting messages begging them to TIVO?
mendy (okla.)
see guys you are quick to judge...dana has smoothly brought back the story...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Too bad they tore down Shea Stadium. Would there be a more appropriate place to play the Toilet Bowl than in the Big Commode in FLUSHING?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
So what would have happened if those 2 kids woulda left? I woulda probably walked off
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Everyone knows that games between division rivals are tough so don't think Texas will look the same as they did against Alabama. It's the reason the Jags play the Colts tough every year no matter they're records.
Bryan (TN)
mendy, its hard to say that about last years game though, what with the whole TX beat OK, TT beat TX, OK beat TT, it was a huge mess that wouldn't have mattered. As I've said, the B-12 doesn't play good defense, and depend solely on the offense to score 40 points a game, and thats not going to happen against a good SEC defense, they are just too fast and powerful.
Matt (Chicago)
Mendy- she never should've LEFT the story in the first place. The Bengals weren't going to say anything relevant. That would've held for a taped replay.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Wow, playing with so emotion. I feel for those guys.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Dana is smooth...it wasn't her call, obviously Mendy
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
nah baby nah, not only is 7 wins not enough, where you finish in your own conference should also be considered, sick of seeing 6-6 teams that finish 7th or 8th in their own conference getting into bowls AND getting that bowl money
Jonathan (ATL)
LOL, JB that's a good one! My brother's a USC grad and I have to listen to his banter all the time so I'll have to nail him with that one (hope you don't mind me borrowing it from you).
Roller (Kentucky)
J.B.- lol
Larry (Houston )
what good sec defense brian? mt cody? who else ya got?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sounds like there are some programming issues at ESPN today. Let's give them a little break, folks. It can't be easy for them to keep things in line today.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
J.b the bowl mascot could be the tidy bowl man
john (panama city bch, fl)
dana said IN ADVANCE that it would happen- BREAKING NEWS vs. HUMAN INTEREST, she'll handle it w/ poise and grace....just watch!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Hell yea J.B. I'm not saying this cause I'm a Yankee fan but Shea was a DUMP!
THUMPA (Houston)
2nd chance to save face I guess. I wouldn't blame the talking head.
Larry (Houston )
and ive already warned you about what shipley will do to arenas
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mark: Joe Pa seems a bit annoyed at the 12th game but yes, the revenue thing would be a problem. They'd have to make it worthwhile for the schools to drop the 12th game.
dana (11:27 AM)
sorry folks, a little busy.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
cool story...
dana (11:28 AM)
yes it was steven, would have been better if we didn't interrupt them.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
larry, please, bama will take shipley away and then you have nothing left. you need to worry about how youre gonna stop the tide
Chris (Tampa)
No worries Dana
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan (ATL): If you think something I posted is worth using, by all means feel free.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Larry (Houston)- Ever heard of Rolando McClain...Javier Arenes??? You WILL!!!
Umor (Detroit)
Let me send a rub on the head two them boys. Y'all did good.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Props to the 2 young men, they showed the class their father wanted them too. had it been me, I would have unplugged the mic and went home
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
every conference should have a championship game
Jonathan (ATL)
That would be a great ESPN poll question: What is the worse bowl of the season?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Notre Dame and the toilet bowl..they certainly have been playing like crap(My Dad is ND class of 54 so that hurts to say that)
Matt (Chicago)
JB, espn could've waited to start with these boys until AFTER the Bengals conference. They just showed the empty chair saying they were waiting on Marvin Lewis 20 minutes ago. Why start another interview when you know thats coming up.
THUMPA (Houston)
They should put up a link to those kids school.
lawrence (stowe vt)
What A great and yet sad story...
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
anyone been to a stadium with the pee trough for a urinal? Man those things are uncomfortable, ok everyone, pee in a tub, ya good idea
dana (11:29 AM)
so let's talk about something that doesn't involve death or tiger
mendy (okla.)
Steven that was my point....
john (panama city bch, fl)
Hey dana- nice juggling, hadda be hard. Two compelling stories during the Holiday season. You done GOOD!
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
agreed, but you did a great job with the transition, and making sure those boys got to tell their story
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
There goes Dana apologizing for doing her job again.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Nice job Dana..you've been thrown a lot of curves this morning
dana (11:29 AM)
thanks for the kudos guys. rough morning.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I went to Shea as a kid. Almost scarred me for life. :-)
Larry (Houston )
danaaaaaaaaaaa
oz (va. beach)
do ya thang dana
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Bengal: Instead of flipping a coin they could flip a urinal disc.
Umor (Detroit)
Hey Dana. Glad you got the kids back on.
Roller (Kentucky)
What's up, Dana?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Anybody that has watched those teams play knows Nebraska's defense is great and Suh is hands down better than MT. Cody.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
JB, you got my vote, not about the joe pa thing, but you have my vote
Umor (Detroit)
Dana we on the chat been talking about our fav SNL Skits, Whats yours.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
dont let'em bother yoy Dana you do a very good and professional job EVERY DAY! love you
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
THANK YOU DANA!!! YES!!! No more tiger
Willy (Daytona)
Who is your MVP PIck Dana
mendy (okla.)
Agree w/ ya dana...
Larry (Houston )
who da hell is rolondo mc clain
Jonathan (ATL)
So which would you watch (just going off the name): the PapaJohns.com Bowl or the Little Caesar Pizza Pizza Bowl (no joke, this is a real bowl)?
Larry (Houston )
take away shipley...ya got newton to deal with...and williams is no joke
Joe (Philly)
Ok people in your opinion can we look forward to Saints vrs Colts in the Superbowl and both teams be undefeated?
dana (11:31 AM)
brett you get comment of the day! thanks again guys for the compliments, really. so let me see...favorite snl skits i see?
Ryan Nik (Richmond, VA)
Hey Dana - you definitely pulled off that interruption with class and grace.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
hayden, the trough is a tradition around here. keep your eyes up though!
THUMPA (Houston)
I understand the difficulty. I only wish that there was better communication between the press.
mendy (okla.)
Larry the same question right back at ya...you gettin tickets???
Demetric (Atlanta)
No wonder Joe Pa is still coaching, he is one of the lowest paid coaches
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I have totally forgotten about skip and jamele today
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jon - the little caesar bowl used to be the motor city bowl. But GM couldn't afford to sponsor the game anymore. Gotta love the good times here in michigan
dana (11:32 AM)
too many. i love the "morning show' when prompter goes down and all hell breaks loose. i love the peyton manning united way, i love more cowbell, seriously...way too many. i forget about them till i see retro shows
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Alabama's offense hasn't been dazzling all season. To hear some of you talk you would think they were the Saints. Bama's qb is as suspect as they come.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
We have been talking about urinals and toilets, Dana.
john (panama city bch, fl)
J.B.- if we need a sequel could it be th TID Y BOWL?
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
jb not so sure some kids would not eat it. you know prop 48 rules and all some of theses kids aint to bright specially playin in the toilet bowl
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I got a fever, and the perscription is more cowbell
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Matt (CHI): I can't see the show so I don't want to make too many judgments. I'll just have to chalk it up to an unusual day and will figure ESPN will make amends somehow.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
JB - flipping a urnial disc could be the quote of the day in the chat.
dana (11:33 AM)
JB, urinals i can't comment on as I don't use them...toilets, don't give em much thought. I liked the snl stuff better.
Larry (Houston )
and yall cant forget about goodwin for texas...go ahead n shut down shipley....
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
No death or Tiger tonight Dana...going with my favorite daughter and Peyton's #1 fan to see your buddy Maurice Jones Drew and his Jags play INDY....look for Peyton to shine and Skip to be wrong
dana (11:33 AM)
caddy mike, awesome! enjoy it
Umor (Detroit)
!st and ten not doing it for ua today.
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
I'm not sure ESPN will make their Brett Favre quota today. FAVRE FAVRE FAVRE.. there that should help
dana (11:33 AM)
thanks steven
Larry (Houston )
yes maam mendy ( gonna be my lil girls 1st longhorn game)
Jonathan (ATL)
Jemele's absolutely right. This perfection stuff is waaay overrated and is blown out of proportion by ESPN, Fox and NFL Network. Just win the SB and that's all that matters....period.
Larry (Houston )
72' dolphins'- sigh....
john (panama city bch, fl)
Larry- Colt will get to know him VERY WELL, if he tries to use a 5 or 7 step drop!
Roller (Kentucky)
Its hard to say underrated when Mercury Morris reminds us of it everyday around this time of year.....dude is annoying!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Hayden: I knew I could count on you. So how are things out in Utah today? Nice area. I'd like to visit someday (I'd give you notice so you could be out of town when I arrived).
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
larry i hope you arent betting your house or anything on those longhorns, hate to see an espn fan lose his home
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jonathan: Little Caesars. Papa John's pizza and I don't get along very well.
Chris (Tampa)
Adam Sandler as Opera Man
Demetric (Atlanta)
Didn't the Steelers win 4-in-a-row superbowl i would rather have that than 19-0
dana (11:34 AM)
can't find it, maybe it posted already, but i think shane wrote bama's qb is suspsect. i don't quite agree but even if i did, that running back is pretty good, so no real offensive worries there.
Bryan (TN)
not really Shane, McElroy was able to take Bama down the field for the game winning score against Auburn. He started out poorly, but steadily improved over the course of the year to be a really good QB. Also, the Bama defense is even better than Nebraska's, so its going to be even tougher for Texas to combat.
THUMPA (Houston)
What is the funniest named Bowl Game?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
SNL skit Belushi and Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Chips, no coke, Pepsi
Willy (Daytona)
No steelers won 4 2 and 2
dana (11:35 AM)
thumpa, names keep changing i can't keep up. i used to like the insight dot com bowl and the poulan weed eater bowl...that was awesome
Umor (Detroit)
Steelers wo two in a roll twice.
THUMPA (Houston)
Eddie Murphy as "Velvet Jones"!!!!
Larry (Houston )
naw im not in tha real estate bizniss and i dont wanna own any homes in alabama...gods armpit...
Jermaine (Charlotte)
It's not the team, it's the accomplishment. Stop comparing the team.
mendy (okla.)
Larry right on... it looks like we are the only ones on the horns ban-wagon today.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
NO SALARY CAP!!!!!
dana (11:35 AM)
thumpa - better eddie murphy in mr robinsons neighborhood
Ryan Nik (Richmond, VA)
Peyton Manning United Way commercial. I've watched that dozens of times. I'm not a Colts fan but how can you not like that guy?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I can see they hype though with a team having an awesome season. Imagine the attention if the Celtics or the Lakers were threatening to get 73 wins
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
good call steven in buckeye town FARVEFARVEFARVE
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Dana: The Morning Show one is twisted, isn't it? The decapitation of the weather man is over the top.
Chris (Tampa)
Porcelian Bowl?
Demetric (Atlanta)
Colt McCoy will be a 2nd Rd pick...book it
Chris (Tampa)
lol. Thumpa...I wanna be a ho
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Da Bears!!
Jonathan (ATL)
Dana, is Michigan in a bowl this year?
Don (Evans)
Jamel, I love ya diva but you've lost your mind! If the 72 Dolphins' accomplishment was so "irrelevent" y'all wouldn't be so vehemently debating it every time a team shows promise that they can possibly achieve that goal. The problem is that the media just can't stand the Dolphins for whatever reason (yes it shows).
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
It says a lot about Irvin and is the main reason why his teammates flocked to him when he was in trouble. He was the ultimate teammate.
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
anybody remeber the blockbuster bowl
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The 'more cowbell' skit gets run at the SWB Yankee home games. We laugh in the press box every time.
dana (11:37 AM)
JB it is, I just know people who are married to that prompter like that. where if there were no words, you'd hear "there are no words". it cracks me up every time!
THUMPA (Houston)
I still like the "classics"...I am falling for the, "What Up Wit Dat" segments...
Roller (Kentucky)
Yes, we need a friggin salary cap, I have sounded off time and time again so I'll try to hold my opinion on it.
john (panama city bch, fl)
S Ok, Larry- Alabama has standards, too. YOU may not be good enuf, lol.
Larry (Houston )
yeah mendy...but hey, we cant change tha world
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Nathan - wow blast from the past with blockbuster bowl being played at Joe Robby Stadium!
Willy (Daytona)
How about the Bayless Bowl full of crap...lol
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Dana: I like the SNL stuff better too. The whole 'too many college bowls' thing kind of went downhill.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
dog gone it! and people like me!!!
Brett (Atlanta)
If you set a salary cap what do you set it at 30 million dollars. Because thats the only way you can help those teams .
Michael Nixon (Fort Wayne Indiana)
THANK YOU SKIP, stop crying and play the game.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Yes Steven, thank you. I know John (PCB) is happy Mr. Favre got his mention.
Larry (Houston )
yeah...yall gonna start a new standard...LOOSIN TO TEXAS
Umor (Detroit)
Eddie Murphy, As james brown, Too Hot in the Hot Tub.
mendy (okla.)
Willy tooooo good.
dana (11:38 AM)
franc, deep thoughts with jack handy rock. there's one it's like we took the kids to go to the amusement park, but when we got there it burned down. so we sat in the parking lot. deep thoughts with jack handy
Steven (Cbus, O-H...)
skip makes me mad, i'm lucky i can just change the channel... i don't know how you all do it at ESPN
Chris (Tampa)
SNL would be great if Peyton and Justin cohosted one time
Jonathan (ATL)
We should start our own bowl: The First Take Chat Bowl. Mod, you can be the Bowl Commish.
Mike (Atlanta)
skip is not making a good argument. the pirates, royals, indians, orioles have been bad for a long time and will continue to be because of no salary cap. We need a even playing field. There is no argument against it.
Jonathan (ATL)
Willy...LOL!
Andrew (CT)
lets stop with this salary cap crap!!! You tell them skip!!!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
NO CAP!!! teams are getting rich off of other teams and just pocket it instead of making their team better
Roller (Kentucky)
Tell'em Jay, I'm with you.
Demetric (Atlanta)
All yall Yankee Haters, need to give it up, Even with a salary cap the Mighty Yankees will still win the World Series
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
im waiting for the netflix bowl
Mike (Atlanta)
ok someone...please someone tell me the negative to having a salary cap? The yankees won't have 10 allstars? is that the bad side of a salary cap? i dont know i think i could live with that.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
when will hustler sponsor a bowl that would be interesting
THUMPA (Houston)
It's best to know your "opponent", Skip brings that "other" side to the convo. Hater or not, SOMEONE agrees with is opinion.
Jermaine (Charlotte)
Neither, I'd take Reggie Miller for the last shot.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
LMAO dana!
Corey (loubreesiana)
Hey Skip, how many of those teams made the playoffs the next yr. This coming from a casual Yankee fan., it's time for a cap man
john (panama city bch, fl)
Thx, J.B., Steven.. God'll git ya for that!!!
mendy (okla.)
Come on steven that is what he gets paid to do. I guess he's done his job today.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Dana, have you seen the Natalie Portman SNL rap?
Roller (Kentucky)
Salary Cap...........yes
Larry (Houston )
PEYTON MANNING greatest snl skit of all time...
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
They need a minimum and a cap. There are far more players that would benefit from taking a little money from the welthiest players and give it to those roster fillers that play hard and are under compensated.
chris (sc)
in the last what 90 years or so the red sox won 2 world series
Michael Nixon (Fort Wayne Indiana)
you can set a salary cap, guys will still go where they want, or they will go to a bad team initially then demand a trade: See the nfl and nba.
Umor (Detroit)
We need a sallary Minmum in Baseball. Pirates need to compete for once.
THUMPA (Houston)
Chris, "I think" I may own that book!!!
t (boulder, co)
they added a salary cap to the NFL and NBA. how much do the title contenders change year after year in those sports?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
The first take chat bowl...only undefeated teams apply...cuz we are undefeated as a chat team!
mendy (okla.)
Demetric it took them long enough to do so. now how many teams won it since their last one?
Larry (Houston )
whens herm edwards comin back on?
Roller (Kentucky)
Hey its Pat Forde on the commercial.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
we need 20 or so more bowls so more teams can go
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The Anal Retentive Chef and the Sinatra Group skits with Phil Hartman were always good too.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
SNL will farrell interviewing charles nelson riley on "actors guild"
Hook (Southern Maryland)
I don't care if there is a salary cap or not. Peter Angelos still won't spend money.
chris (sc)
Salary cap didn't hold the red sox from not winning a title in 86 years!!!
Roller (Kentucky)
How in the wide world of sports could anyone take Kobe over MJ for any shot?
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
exactly...guys will still go to the yanks, Jim Hendry made the point about these teams pocketing revenue money and not spending on players....if ur not gonna try, u have no credibility.
Larry (Houston )
how bout the 'discout tire' bowl....the 'wal mart' bowl...the 'mall of america bowl'....how bout THAT?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
How about the Playboy bowl where the winners get a trip to the Mansion!!
Willy (Daytona)
When a pitcher makes 10,000 dollars a pitch we really need salary cap
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
just wait till the NFL gets rid of their cap, overnight the cowboys will become the yankees
Corey (loubreesiana)
Oh and Kobe is a beast, chances for a repeat are looking bright so far. Sweet 16 would be nice
mendy (okla.)
My fav. is snoop & mike....cracks me up every time.
Larry (Houston )
ryte...baseball is MUCH BETTER when the PIRATES are competative
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
wrote my thesis on cap in baseball. and yes umor cap and floor
john (panama city bch, fl)
Larry- you're TOO quick-witted for me...I acquiesce...Texas will win. Congratulations- you won, I'm a changed man, you convinced me. Go LongHorns, etc. Now MOVE ON!!!!!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
people that that hate the salary cap would LOVE it if the Steinbrenners were running THEIR team
oz (va. beach)
kobe greatest shot maker evr, not as strong 2 the buket as michael but a much betr shooter an tough shot maker
Mark (Ann Arbor)
What about Big Shot Rob Horry for the last shot. He didn't miss to many clutch shots in his career.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The EBay Bowl. Payout would not be disclosed until all bidding was final.
Demetric (Atlanta)
Jay, think about it, the Yankees give 50 million a year to lesser teams for going over the cap, if their was a salary limit, then those lesser teams wont get that revenue sharing
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
In the NBA the only big market team that isn't competing is the Knicks and they will be after 2-3 superstars go there because its New York...Lakers, Boston, Orlando,
Ryan Nik (Richmond, VA)
I heard that some of the lower salaried MLB teams are actually more profitable than the big spenders (I think the Pirates were mentioned). If that's true, isn't the incentive to spend and win diminished?
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
herm and jalen are the only ones who can handle skip outside of dana
Jeff (CT)
There is not a need for a salary cap - the NFL and NBA have them and the same teams cycle through the playoffs and win every year, and the teams at the bottom are really bad. A salary cap is not the answer
willie (topeka basement)
mj
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
you cant blame a team for paying big $$$ for WINNING when other teams arent spending the money the do have to do the same
Jonathan (ATL)
About time the Rockets deal Mr. Bust, Tracy McGrady
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
when ur small market, lock up a guy longterm while he is still arbitration eligible to show them that you want to invest in them (see evan longoria) yo will end up keeping them for way longer than you would if you kept going year to year.
Roller (Kentucky)
Yeah, pretty soon we'll have enough bowls to invite the division II schools.
Willy (Daytona)
COWBOYS r supposed to have all the money now and they have smelled like a toilet bowl
Larry (Houston )
Thank you john...my work here is done
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Another good SNL Skit: Rachel Dratch and Jimmy Fallon doing the people from Boston. "NOMAH!"
THUMPA (Houston)
Too late to "level" the playing field when it comes to Salary Cap issues with some teams. II mean, I thought the "Omega-Omni-Tron" screen in Dallas was way too overated, they should have kept Pac-Man instead!(Wait, the screen CAN block PUNTS!) I change my vote!
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Jay, you cannot say on the one hand that the Minnesota Twins are a well run organization and then turn around and say they would be like the Orioles if they were in the AL East. That is a contradictiona??the Orioles are not a well run team. That is why they stink every year.
Jonathan (ATL)
Jason, what was the conclusion in your thesis about the salary cap?
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Nobody is better than MJ late in a game. I can't believe that is even up for debate.
Jonathan (ATL)
who is Anthony Randolph? I never hear of this dude from the Warriors.
Jeff (CT)
MJ over Kobe come on is this even a question?
Mike K (Dallas)
T-Mac hasnt played a few minutes this year who wants to trade for him?
dana (11:47 AM)
mike he's got the next month and a half to prove he's ok after the surgery
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
It's getting to a point where if you win a game, you qualify for a bowl.
mendy (okla.)
Jeff when people retire they get shuffled back. in 15 yrs. kobe will be shuffled back & a new name will appear but the same debate will go on.
Willy (Daytona)
who really likes baseball anyway its too much like kickball except kickball is more exciting
dana (11:48 AM)
jb, not that bad...
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
MJ the best ever. you have to look at how many careers MJ ruined and made. Because of him, Barkley, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, dont have rings and Olojuwon and Drexler do because of MJ
john (panama city bch, fl)
Mr. Bill..."he's gonna hurt me, no no no no pleeeease, NOOOO"- sound familiar, Larry? Memorize it, USE it..........BOOK IT!!
Jim (Y-TOWN)
hey Skip, the only teams to vote no on a salary cap were NY,Boston/Arizona,and Atlanta.
dana (11:48 AM)
mr. bill was cool
Demetric (Atlanta)
MJ vs Kobe last shot, MJ 99% of the time cause he would have got it done the first time unlike Kobe who had three chances last night
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
Exactly people forget the RAYS WON THE AL EAST 1 year after almost finishing dead last...thats just an aberration??? no not at all, its because they made smart decisions which Jay's Indians, the Royals, Pirates, and Reds, etc... do not.
Roller (Kentucky)
I wouldn't mind coming off the bench for $5 million a year.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Since 2002 Kobe isn't even the leader in last second shots. LeBron is!! MJ all day
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Sorry if I make you mad, but the best SNL skit is no SNL skit.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
see ya all tommorow gotta run
Larry (Houston )
whoops...i was freestylin 'texas fight'
Larry (Houston )
Texas Fight...Texas Fight...and its GOODBYE to the SEC....
THUMPA (Houston)
T-mac makes great statements, but, I know it is time for a Change of scenery.
Larry (Houston )
T-Mac can STR8 BALL...the fans and organization in houston SUCKS!!!
Mike (Atlanta)
nooooooooooooooooooooo jamele takin kobe!!!!! wowwwwww. ITs MJ everytime come on,
chris (sc)
are you serious??? Why is this even a question????? MJ all day!!!
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
The Royals don't have money then they give Jose Guillen 10 million a year?? Like all these small market teams end up having to move contracts...why did they decide to sign them in the first place? you don't sign people to contracts that you don't have the money to pay...makes not sense.
Roller (Kentucky)
Kobe talk......I'm feeling really sick
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Current players I like Kobe...20 years ago Larry Bird...40 years ago Jerry West...MJ anytime
mike m (canton,oh)
mcgrady is not a bust he was great untill the last couple of seasons with the magic, since then he just got bitting by the injury bug
Nathan (Daytona Beach)
i always feel sorry for Mr.Bill
Mike (Atlanta)
yeah hook is right. I saw a snl skit the other day and didnt laugh once
Corey (loubreesiana)
wow, she took Kobe. I say MJ is the greatest but Kobe is right behind him
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
No it isn't that bad Dana but still, 6-6 gets you a bowl bid? Then again we do get sub-.500 teams qualifying for the NCAA basketball tournament.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
T mac is Grant Hill all over again. They need to spend that money on someone who produces. I mean Yao Ming has played more than T Mac and he is constantly hurt as well.
Ife (Boston)
I hate to break it to Jemele and Jay but Jay is way off base here and I feel bad that his team the Indians is run poorly but the overwhelming number of A list players DO NOT play in the 5major markets. The Red Sox do not have one of the top 25 players in the league, last I checked the top players: Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Albert Pujols, Joe Mauer, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera, Tim Lincecum, dona??t play for major market teams. Admit you are wrong Jay. (and biased)
oz (va. beach)
any1 thnkn kobe not a betr shootr than mike is nuts
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Mj every day of the week. MJ never quit on his team to prove a point
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
john, there is competitive balance to a degree, however the extreme cases (top and bottom) bear out the need for a cap. but also a floor, you see the luxury tax working??? nope if you are an owner you must be obligated to spend your money constructvely on your team and not on your mansion. the best way to make money is putting asses in the seats, and the only way to do that in a "smaller market" is to win!!!
THUMPA (Houston)
I like the Taylor Swift intro she did. (It was on CNN for Pete's sake!!)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Land shark, anyone?
mod (11:50 AM)
just a dolphin
oz (va. beach)
ur rt jamele
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mr. Bill! Good one, john!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Did Jamele just say LeBron?!!! WHAT??!!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Hook, go chat fantasy then
stacy (georgetown )
skip looks nice!!!!!!!!
mike m (canton,oh)
id take mj all day
Mike K (Dallas)
MJ all the way no question!
Umor (Detroit)
Liking the Pistons young guns. They play hard. No deep run in the playoffs this year. But next year they'll be top 4 in the east.
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
I agree with Ife in Boston...ur dead on.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
anything taylor swift does=I like
Chris (Tampa)
you are that clever land shark...no just the plumber
Willy (Daytona)
robert horry ......
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
The best dynasty in college football plays Saturday for another national title. Who cares about the bowl games on Saturday? When will Mount Union get some love.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Oh wait, I've got an old school SNL skit. The two 'wild and crazy guys.'
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
tmac cant shoot the ball without getting injured
Chris (Tampa)
Ha SNL reference Jay!
chris (sc)
jordan never lost in the NBA FINALS. 6x in 6 tries
oz (va. beach)
roller thats hateritis u got its contagious 2
Demetric (Atlanta)
Durant is better than Leborn now....no joke
Roller (Kentucky)
Some of these guys are just a product of the current NBA where the "superstar" gets the call.
Jon R (Paducah ky)
Oz is a idiot and does not know sports!!!!!!!
Jonathan (ATL)
I knew we couldn't get through 1st & 10 without Skip having to make reference to either LeBron, TO or Iverson.
Umor (Detroit)
Al Franken looking in the mirror. I'm smart enuf I'm good enuf, And darn it people like me.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
i want Bimbo Coles taking the last shot
Michael N (Fort Wayne Indiana)
5 of the last 7 cy Young award winning pitchers have been traded, and none of them were traded to the Yankees. yes we signed sabathia, but have not been in the running for these front line guys who have been moved for contract reasons.
Umor (Detroit)
Got me wanting to see cooley high again.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
'Candy gram.'
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
I'd take Derek Fisher before I'd take KObe.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
has it really been 10 mins without talking about tiger!!!!!??????
Willy (Daytona)
Dude no more baseball talk it should be illegal is it really a sport or a event????????
mendy (okla.)
First take & gang have a GREAT DAY!!! Michigan was great but it's nice to be home. GOD BLESS
Jim (Y-TOWN)
Kevin Durant is better right now at 20yrs. old.I am also a Cavs fan that has seen LeBron through high school here in Ohio
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Byron Russel
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I'll take the last shot
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Coneheads and the Roxbury guys - also good. Best Roxbury one was when Jim Carrey was the guest star.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Church Lady rocked!
THUMPA (Houston)
I see "bandwagons" show up every year in Houston with just about every sport. I rarely see the FULL support of T-Mac unless it is a discussion about "Injuries" or "Old Days".
Roller (Kentucky)
I think we past the salary cap now!
Hook (Southern Maryland)
SNL isn't dirty. I like dirty jokes.
Ife (Boston)
the thing is if a small market wants to maintain success trade players so you get something in return, even the Yankees do that. look at the Gary Sheffield trade. who's fault is it if a team is poorly run? If you trade for top level talent you can maintain success.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Jay, Dana, mod even, lets have this chat all day, I need it
Larry (Houston )
be cool mendy
Umor (Detroit)
See ya gotta Go. RIP Chris Henry.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Reis shoulda been here for this...dana started it, but Reis really gets into this stuff, too.
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Yeah Durant is better scoring but does he play defense? People try to compare all these stars to MJ but what made him special is that he did it on both sides of the ball.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
yo skip i got your back in all areas ........except those sorry cowboys1-5 vs teams w/ winning record THIS YEAR has nothing to do w/ decembers past
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
This one may not be posted in a Disney-sponsored chat but the 'Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute' skit was pretty darn funny too.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
is it Byron or BRYON??? is it Michael or Michelle?
Jim (Y-TOWN)
instead of Bimbo how about his side kick at VT Dell Curry
Corey (loubreesiana)
Skip forgets that most of the time, it took Kobe to draw double-teams to get Fisher and Horry open for those big shots. The majority of Fisher and Horry's have come from them just spotting up and getting the good look
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Boy Reischea would have enjoyed this.
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
Ife you are correct! thats why the league needs to step in and force these owners to run the teams right or sel them to someone who will
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Another good skit: "Coffee Talk." Discuss among yourselves.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Next, we need to do "In Living Color"- lotta classic there, too!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
bad argument by skip, jordan didnt have his "man body" till the 90s... mainly after his 1st retirement
Chris (sc)
wow SKIP pick Lebron
Roller (Kentucky)
I haven't watched SNL lately but the last time I did it was ok but not as good as say.......5 years ago.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Church Lady! Another good one, john. See, there are things you and I agree on. Who knew?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I live in a van down by the RIVER!!
Mike K (Dallas)
What Skip said something nice about Prince James?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Looks like we are wrapping up for today. Again prayers out to the Henry family as well as the Disney family today on their loss. If you have kids, spend some time with them today. Until tomorrow's Casual Dress Chat, stay safe. Peace.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Have a good day ALL- see ya tomorrow.
oz (va. beach)
i know uk havnt won a title since around the time the cowboys won a playoff game
Nathan (Knoxville)
If you can draw a play up, Jordan. Just for a last ditch heave, Kobe.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
WAYNES WORLD!!! the skit was HILARIOUS!!! the movies... not so much
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Favre or farva
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)
MJ period best back court player of all time hands down
THUMPA (Houston)
I would go as far as to challenge anyone to name a team, in any sport and think of the 1st person that come to mind. (When you think ROCKETS, do you still envision Olajuwon or can you honestly say "T-Mac)?
mike m (canton,oh)
snl is ok.i dont watch it much.id rather sit and watch in living color.now that was a funny skit show
stacy (georgetown)
your right guys!!!!!!!!and have a good day!!!!!!!!!
Roller (Kentucky)
What was the show that Jim Carey got his start with?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Good job today Dana, hug them kids for me
Barbara (sacramento)
supposedly tiger isn't talking to anyone and neither is elin so how is all this info getting out about their private life. just because she isn't wearing her rings doesn't mean anything. a lot of women don't wear their wedding rings. the media need to give this a rest for awhile and stop making so much out of every lttle thing
mike m (canton,oh)
in living color roller
Shane Reid (Raleigh,NC)
Thumpa. Phi Slamma Jamma all day
jason hoskins (dayton ohio)

Roller (Kentucky)

dana (12:12 PM)
